Growing on a cow flop
    #971024 -

I recently went huting for copelandia cyanescens and the only thing I found was a fatty cow shit with some tiny pinheads starting to pop up. So I was like, fuck it, and just picked the whole thing up, gently set it into a plastic garbage bag and toted it home. I'm hoping that if i can keep high enough humidity in the garbage bag, they'll grow. I have no experience in growing so if anybody has suggestions that would better my chances of success, id love to hear them. thanks.

dont just leave it in a trash bag, but it into some sort of clear bag or container so it can get some light.
also you should give it some fresh air while maintaing the humidity.
you may just end up w/ mold, but its worth a shot.

Thanks for the ideas solid. I moved the heap into a transclucent plastic bag like you suggested. Should I be trying to create a greenhouse type of effect? It seems to me like that shold work. Only problem is that its been cloudy and rainy for like three days and I get the feeling that it needs a little heat and sunlight to create the humidity. Hope they can survive till the sun comes out again.

room temp should be ok, as long as it doesnt get much below 65F.
direct sunlight is not necessary, just ambient light.
privide humidity by lightly misting w/ a spray bottle, but dont overdo it.

Leave it outside in a shady area and water it daily with fine mist of garden hose.

Well, considering i had to trespass just to get the fucker, going back every day to "water" it wouldn't have be the greatest idea, and its not as though I can put it outside my condo for the other tennants to see either. I asked for advice not a "Why didnt you"

What floor is your condo on? Put it in something with raidsed sides, even a cardboard box would work short term. Shade/indirectsun/ mist often. leave top of box open for air circulation. Or break it up and put it in cheap hanging baskets the neighbors can't see into.

Whats up down low?  i'm on the second floor so there isnt a chance of anyone else seeing it.  The garbage bag isnt working to well.  Every time new mushrooms start to pop up, they grow for a day or so then turn black and fizzle out,  before the caps spread.  However, each new batch that comes up seems to be more mature than the last.  Is this a normal process?  I just moved so Ive got plenty of boxes.  Ill give your suggestion a go and hope for the best.  Thanks for the help.
