I've been asked on several occasions how I make my liners so nicely.  I know this is a pretty simple task but I'm going to show you how to make several nice 28x23" (you can make any size you want) liners for 66 QT monotubs in mere minutes.

First you will need to buy your liner material.  I use this brand because simply put it's the best. 



It comes in a roll of plastic that will make about 100 or so liners.  I get it because it's 3.5 mil thick (very thick and sturdy).  Once you use this painter plastic you will NEVER go back to using garbage bags or whatever cheap plastic people use.

Start by rolling out the plastic like so.



Then measure out 28" from the beginning of the roll, mark it with a sharpie and cut it across (you can square it if you want but I use my best judgement to cut a straight line across).



Once you've cut it across you can unravel the portion that you have cut off.



From there you can measure 23" all the way down and cut your finished liners out.  Or you can do what I do and cut every 3 sections which is roughly on the 23" mark.  In the photo below you can see where I put sharpies just before the third section all the way down.



Cut them all the way down and you'll have 5 liners with just a small portion left at the end.  I save those for mini mono liners.



That's all there is to it.  You can continue on or roll it back up nice and neat and put it back in the original bag.  Making them this size will ensure that you have plenty of room to spawn and get in there and mix it up with out having to worry about making a mess.  I cut them down using an xacto blade once I've spawned into the liner.  I usually cut down leaving a .5" space for casing.  If you're not going to case you can just cut all the way down the sub level.  I don't like using scissors to cut the liner down because it is a PITA and it looks like shit.  The xacto blade will give you a nice straight cut.  :awesomenod:

  I made 15 today and it took me about 10 minutes including taking the photos and removing kitties from the pictures.  Didn't succeed in every photo.. but who doesn't love a bonus cute kitten?  Right?  Right...

I buy the same type of drop-clothes for painting. It's also fairly cheap. I'm thinking under 5$ if I remember correctly.

Yeah it's not expensive.  It's cheap enough that I don't even remember the price :shrug:

I buy wider rolls for other uses but for my future mini monos I bought a roll of 4' x 50' husky 4 mil at Home Depot for $8.87. I figure even with waste it will give me 20 mini mono liners.

I don't think I'd pay 9 dollars for 20 mini liners, or even 20 full size mono liners, to be honest.  I'd rather pick big ass side pins, at that price.

It's almost like you're talking to someone who hasn't done plenty of tubs with and without liners and has made that decision themselves.  I know what side pins are like, and I know what handling a liner is like.

If the cost effectiveness doesn't hit a sweet spot, it's just not worth it to me.  You can't disprove an opinion.

Obviously.  I'm not saying I won't try liners with this plastic sheeting, I'm just saying there's a point of cost effectiveness for me where I no longer give a fuck. :shrug:

THAT is what I'm talking about, when you know about values like this, 9 dollars for 20 mini monos is laughable.

This is the difference between when I was a sucker enough to pay over a dollar a pound for rye and now that I get my grains 50 lbs at a time for less than 15 bucks.  It's hard to settle now.

Hell yeah.  I'll check into that for sure.
