The book "The Alchemist"
    #20807310 -

I'd just like to know what the rest of the shroomery thinks about this book. The only topic mentioning it is this negative one:

Haven't read it in a few years. But I remember thinkink the writing style was simple but strong. I thought that it conveyed it's message well. And I wondered if the author had inner alchemy in mind and was using a story to try and express that sensation through the readers own internalization of the reading. The story spurs quite a few feelings IMO and that's it's strongest point. I think it is intended to be inspirational. But for me it fell flat in that regard. It was too unrealistic for the reality I experience.

It's a good book. A little too full of metaphors for my liking but certainly inspirational if you like that kind of thing. As said above, it's a well written but simplistic writing style, and quite short, so a nice easy read.

I would definitely recommend it if you like a little 'outside the box' thinking.

Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

Yeah it was a good story, like you said a little too mystical and out there to really apply to my life as it is. I like the concept of omens. While the universe is neutral, you can look at any object and your brain will paint it's own picture of it and give it it's own meaning. In that way, it's like your following your own personal path.

Moral of the story, follow your dreams, never give up, keep your gold deep up your ass where thieves won't find it.
