Adding l-tryptophan powder to substrate for increased potency.

A friend of mine (he is a mycologist) told me that you can add l-tryptophan powder to your substrate to increase the potency of the fruits that grow.  has anyone ever tried this?  Results?  What about adding it to already colonized substrate?  I'm guessing bad idea.

sounds like your friend is a retard who talks out of his ass. mycelium breaks down the substrate it doesn't just take up complex molecules and say hey wow I have less work to do.

yep. D-L tryptophan will increase the amount of Psilocybin in the shrooms. It will make it to where ya don't gotta eat as many. Strains that are slow or have slow periods are affected more.

For example, the Peurto Ricans have a more noticeable difference in potency when I use tryptophan and they have a "slow period" during fruiting. Orissa and other cubes that take longer in fruiting are affected more noticeably by using D-L tryptophan.

It doesn't seem to require as many stones to get off when I use tryptophan, either. Especially the stones that are 5 or 6 months old. I wouldn't say that tryptophan "improves the buzz," you just won't have to eat as many shrooms.

Rather than start a new thread, take a look at the thousands of identical threads that people have already started and allowed to fizzle out when nothing works.  There is no evidence that adding anything will increase potency.
