Adding crushed dried mushrooms to substrate?
    #861489 -

Hey!

I know that adding tryptamines to substrate is supposed to increase potency but DMT is rare and its a waist to use. To the best of my knowledge psilocybin is a tryptamine, which means it would have the same effect on the fruits, right?

Could adding dry, crushed mushrooms to your substrate increase potency? The mushroom also contains nutrients that it gets from the mycelium, increasing the amount of nutrients in the substrate, right?

Would this be worth a try, in theory i mean? Any reason this wouldnt work? General thoughts on the idea?

Thanks
Fd

What if you extracted with methanol, and injected? that'd take care of any heat problems

Shaw- Thats a funny comparison, lol!

Mickey- Well, this was just an idea. As for the cyans, its in progress...researching i mean NOT growing

Servator- Good idea!

Anno- To improve potency...

But would it even improve potency? I mean like 2 grams of dry mushrooms per jar... Maybe extract and inject?

Maybe its just a bad idea, oh well i though id get the expert opinions...

I was thinking the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago,
had a discusion about this with Moloko.

I think im gonna try it sometime...its not economical because you can eat some more shrooms to trip harder instead of crushing some shrooms....but wht the heck...boosting shrooms with shroom sounds like a fun experiment

1 reason I can think of, if you have 1g of potent shrooms, that equal say 3g of ordinary cubensis, the potent shrooms are gonna be easier on the stomach. If pure psilocybin is used there are no adverse stomach reactions. So if one doesn't have the stomach for 3g, then potentiating substrate is the way to go , the gut reaction seems to be in the fruitbodies.

Good luck

Timothy Leary experimented with pure psilocybin and if I'm not mistaken, some students still suffered from abdominal issues when administered the pure drug without the mushroom. I have seen people suffer from nausea after ingesting the same mushrooms other people ate with no ill effects.

Even if it did work and increase potency, do you think it would do it two fold? You always lose something, you cant just get more for nothing. My opinion is your better off just eating the dried shrooms...

But I could be wrong, try it if you want.

as well, if you're going to go through the trouble of extracting the psilocybin and related chemicals from the mushrooms, why don't you just eat the extract? seems like the best solution to me. =p

Yes you are right Mickey, but many individuals have slight to moderate allergies to most mushroom fruiting bodies. So while some people are going to react when their bodies feel the first alert, others might be reacting to any number of compounds in the fruiting bodies themselves (other than the good stuff).
I think if you really want to avoid as much of the nausea as possible (if you're sensitive) then just do the ethanol/H2O extraction.

I dont care about the potency outcome or how "high" ill get. If the potency increases at all then it will be something new that nobody has ever done. Its just fun to try something new and interesting!

Maybe some of you grow just to trip but i actually enjoy the whole process and trying something new would be fun!

my question is: if it did increase potency, would it be enough to notice, or would you need to be able to analize it in a lab? i say try anything once. if it doesn't work... big shit. at least you would know for sure. myself, i would use the bseed to spawn bulk style.

How about adding MDMA HCL to the water before mixing it with the grains could it be expected that the MDMA would stay in the water and end up in the water in the shrooms. Would make for a yummy tasting shroom. Might just have to try that one

Fd3000 you say you don`t grow to get high, yet you are trying to improve the potency of your shrooms???
Why would you be doing that then?

If you could get it working, it'd be really cool.  Think about it: After growing "concentrated" shrooms, extract their alkaloids and use them to grow more "concentrated" shrooms.  I'm sure some sort of diminishing returns kicks in after a while, but you could continually concentrate the shrooms until you have something that'll really knock your socks off

Will in some respect I am but not for any reason.
I`m more just contradicting what he`s saying by arguing his own agrument back at him
My point was that the only reason a person would try to increase potency is to become higher.
The point everyone else was making was that he should instead just eat more or grow a stronger strain.
But even that isn`t necessary, shrooms are strong enough.

Yea, I have to agree with ya on every point. I think this is one of those experiments that'l produce no useful results, but is cool to do anyway.
And from what I understand, nobody on this forum grows anything illegal, cause drugs are bad and everything.....

Servator- I like the avatar!

DERRAYLD- What the hell did i say? Becasuse its something new and fun to do! I dont care about getting higher because, as stated before i could just eat more mushrooms if that was the goal. I wanna be a poineer!

See some of us actually like the science and study involved in mushroom growing...

I grow to take shrooms sure but my main enjoyment comes from the cultivation of all mushrooms.
So I wasn`t trying to be negative or disrespect you I was merely posing the argument.
Understand?
I personally find anything to do with mycology to be incredibly interesting.
That`s why I`m converting a room in my house into a clean room, to grow edibles of every kind and to spread them in my town and others surrounding me.
Do you know how many people have no idea how good mushrooms taste?
Everyone thinks the std button mushroom is all there is.
I will change their ideas.

seems to me that even if it worked,
you'd end up losing.
because it would take more psilocybin
than it would give.
