Lol michael kuo and im the same way reading up on everything I find. Thats cool thanx for the link:hellyeah: finding things in your yard is always a bonus! Ive been throwing all sorts of mushrooms and spores in my yard. In time who knows what will pop up.

figure its time i chime in on this thread!  nice stuff x, the skull is da bomb.  you have a real knack for fitting the subject to the medium.  remember the mind's eye will fill out what you don't so just refrain from over-workin those puppies.  (remember last year)

i havent seen nearly as many as last year.  i think the deep freeze did bugger things up a bit for this season.  same with pluteus.  not seeing nearly as many this year, but its been a bit drier too, aside from some random torrents.

if i come across any good ones, i'll harvest them for you

Right on rural thank you very mush. Its good to remind me not to overwork them. I did do that a lot last year. The conks and Pluteus really are scarce this year I think you are right. If you collect the appalants id be glad to take em lol.

One piece done and ready for display. I got twenty or so conks on cue. Ten are dry. I plan to keep em comin on this thread so it dont get shut down. I also want to reupload the pics after I flip and resave em.

Thank you Catnip40 :-) post your etching on here if you like, I dont mind sharing. Glad to see another Ohian :-) I really want to redo the cinctulus one. Its not bad but its not my best work. Thank you still. I etched fifty of these ganoderma or so last year. The pics should still be in my library I will double check. If you have posted your etching already I will check it out :hellyeah:

Found some nice conks. The big ones pore surface was kind of bug eaten. The medium sized ones have nice pore surfaces. I could always paint the surfaces white after etching. Airbrush something one them. I dunno just yet.

My dad said at a job he worked on there was a Ganoderma about three-4 feet across.. like he described it as massive, and im expecting it to be... when he gets around to taking a pic, i gues the people have it as a door stop.

Thanx and Wow that conk sounds huge and cool! Never thought about making a doorstop out of one.:hellyeah: I've been keeping track of the many small ones that might not be harvestable until next summer. There are a lot out there I plan to collect :-)
