Option to remove username

Can there be an option to remove your user name and have it default to your user number, e.g. u240779 or User 240779? I know you can currently do this using the name changer, but what I'm proposing would be free and would serve to promote the concept to those who didn't actually want a user name.

Sure! There could also be an option to make the page display in nonsense words that flash and spin... But why?

I think many people see the requirement of coming up with a username for a message board as a burden. They might not like what they choose and then their username actually becomes an irritant. So the answer to your question is: to make the site even freer.

User numbers displayed as usernames would become an irritant for others, though.

All this reminds me of is trying to remember the 16 digit user ID number when AOL launched.

You can pay 5 bucks to just change it to digits.

You would think so, but we store the quoted text into the database at the time it's done to improve performance.
