tombosley8 said: I am going to go ahead and give credit where it's due. You definitely break down supplies and costs and where to get them pretty thoroughly. And give a pretty good outlook on the entire process. BUT!!!!!, I think you should not recommend RR RYE tek to noobs for wbs as it will end up oversaturated and bursting grains. So far Spitball jed and Frank have the best Wbs teks and both never allow to boil and jedi doesn't even simmer. I have over simmered my wbs too many times as a noob and has caused a lot of problems for me. Since a SAB is so important you should at least give a link: SAB As you had no problem giving links in the rest of the post. You shouldN'T have to "water" your tubs before the first flush. Coir/verm/gypsum do not need proper pasteurization. You called TL TC. You should recommend sanding the plastic jar lids so the silicon will stick longer. I always have water touching the bottom of my jars at the beginning of the pc cycle with no problems. I use about 2 qts per pc cycle maybe a little more. I have that same pc and i fit 10 qt jars at a time. You should cover tops of jars with foil (I know this is debatable with sfd's but i had issues not) or at least recommend it but maybe raising the jars as you did compensated for that. Shaking the jars while hot has seemed to help a lot for redistributing the condensation while cooling(that's debatable too). Though I have done it, You shouldn't reccomend doing sterile work in a bathroom. That contradicts itself. You really need to emphasize the necessity of sterile work and your process of it. You don't even reccommend taking a shower, washing your hands? Your spawn ratio is a bit high but that's preference i guess. 1.5/1 is plenty IMO. You should at least recommend the correct spectrum of light (6500k). Any spray bottle will work pretty much but not needed untill after first flush, unless your doing it wrong. You should give more info on agar and links to it as it is so important and beneficial. You don't go into much detail about how to inoculate anything whether its ms to grain or agar or g2g. You just say do it. A noob will fail miserably at this step without the proper guidance.
So newbs if you want a good guide to get started growing monotubs check this http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19792837 and come back to this page when you need to figure out where to get your supplies and how much it will be. Also There is some good info here as well and should be viewed as another man's way of doing itbut as a for all noob tek, NO. There is much more i didn't list in the tek that can lead many noobs astray. oh yeah thought of another. You say it should be set and forget but then you say mist and fan 2 times a day. that's how a SGFC is dealt with well maybe another misting too. Monotubs create their own humidity and natural evaporation to create wonderful pinsets when dialed in correctly. Yes it can help if you don't have air circulation or your tub is too dry for some reason, but should not be recommended as a practice for monotubs. Thjat's not what they are designed for. That should be stressed here. I may be back for more so stay tuned......
This is all based off of your personal experience...Most of this has nothing to do with getting actual results.
1. RR teks for WBS works fine for me. 6+3=9 and so does 5+4. Your method isn't always the correct one, try to see things from other people's point of view. 2.Yea I should have linked an SAB tek, but they are easy to find so I didn't. 3. I know you shouldn't have to, I said sometimes you may have to.. And you should always properly pasteurize everything if you have time.. 4. Foil isn't needed, I've never used foil ontop of my jars. I've never sanded down my lids either, I just take scissors and cut off the excess (which I would assume would be common sense to most) 5. I know I shouldn't recommended doing sterile work in a bathroom, I was simply demonstrating that with the right sterile techniques, it shouldn't matter where you are working. 6. Taking a shower and washing your hands isn't needed even in the slightest...I've gone out for a 3 hour bike ride and come back to work on petri dishes in my bathroom. Having no issues. 7. Lighting isn't all that important...Lighting spectrum isn't needed either. Check out Hippiechicks grows if you think that I am wrong..She uses an overhead ceiling light and gets 21000g flushes. 8. I already stated that you shouldn't have to water your tubs, but sometimes might have to. 9.Agar is more advance and only people with a genuine intrest in cultivation should take it up. This is a tek for noobs, not advanced growers. 10. Inoculation process shouldn't be that difficult.. I did explain what to do, flame sterilize your needle every time... or your scalpal..Its pretty simple.
As for having the same pressure cooker and doing things differently. Congrats. I was simply showing people how I use my pressure cooker and what my results are. Your way is no more better than mine. Doing things your way have also shown to have an increased contamination rate and cracked jar rate. I like doing things my way, I don't really need to be doing 20 jars at a time, 14 is perfect for me.
So if you are done giving your personal opinion based on arbitrary results and hijacking my thread to link other people's, I would like to move on.
I stated that this is a tek for Newbs, meaning people who are just starting and want to see some results.
I didn't say that this is an advance tek for experienced growers guaranteed to give you a 10lb flush for you first go around. Most people are happy if they get an ounce for their first go.
This is a simple tek, based on giving simple instructions, to in turn receive simple results.
NOTHING MORE. I do however appreciate the input, and I will go back to look at my tek to see what I feel needs improving.
