What if any is the difference between PC pachanoi and Trichocereus pachanoi?

I have found a post or two on this and searched the net but I am no cactus expert at all and don't understand if there is any difference or not for Trichocereus pachanoi and something called PC pachanoi?

If someone knowledgeable could explain this in simple terms. I have a nice cutting that has rooted and is growing like mad. I am going to half it and do it again. I would like to find more cuttings but have run into this knowledge road block. Here is an image.

Looks like it has 5 ribs.

From what I understand, these are supposed to be more sought after.

PC stands for predominant cultivar.

Thank you for the tip Mr. Go! That is good info. The term predominate cultivar does not really make since to me??? 5 ribs I understand.

Hopefully someone else can expand. I really appreciate the reply.

PC "It is the predominantly cultivated recognized Pachanoi form"
Still being T.Pachanoi, exemplars have differences like shape,number of ribs, color, spines, this due many factors (Growing location , altitude, sun strenght) and of course hibridation

For example, i find very difficult to distinguish T.Pachanoi and T.Scopulicola, imagine having a hibryd

If you mean That are sought after because their Potency, it's only Folklore
They also say that rare 4 ribs Pachanoi can bring you to hell and give you terrific trips
4,5,6,7,8,9 ribs, doesen't matter, they are exactly the same

If instead you meant that they are rarer, so more valaube (for a collector), i agree
I simply love Trichs with unusual rib number, i have a 5 rib bridgesii (that is not exactly rare thought...) and i aim to get a 4 rib Pachanoi

Your pachanoi has deeper V notches towards the base with spines pointing downwards where the PC clone has very short spines with a golden hue in the areoles  which are also more similar to T. bridgesii than a True pachanoi because a Pc points more upward. The ribs are also  deeper on the Pc.


Your cactus looks like one of those peruvian pachanois

Sought after in the sense of being a bit harder to find.

Ribs will be added and lost during times of abundance or stress, within a species range. I had a lovely 4 ribbed bridgesii, for a while. Of course individual seed grown plants might stabilise at a lower count but there is always a risk they will grow an extra rib.
