T. Peruvianus when ordering T.Pachanoi

Based on the recent posts in this forum and others, many people seem to be receiving T. peruvianus when ordering T.pachanoi (Pedro).

Is this due to mislabel cacti?

OR

Supplies who regard T. Peruvianus as a variation of T.Pachanoi and not its own species? (One cacti nursery I spoke to, did not recognize T.Peruvianus as a cacti species.

OR

European variation on T.Pachanoi, which resemble T. Peruvianus?


Also....

Do all the European cacti come from the same suppliers?

Does anyone care if they receive a T. Peruvianus when they ordered T.Pachanoi?

Do seed grown cacti show a significant variations in their offspring?

I think the taxonomists have reclassified Peruvianus as an Echinopsis as opposed to Trichocereus so you may find them under this heading in the cactus lists in the UK.

BTW who is your Peruvianus supplier in UK?

Peruvians and pedros are genetically diverse enough to be individually classified....anyone who were to lump them together would be a bit of a....ummmm...well, fill in the blank.

I think there are definitely vendors who don't know the difference. There are short and long spined variants of peruvians, but they're distinct enough that you won't get them conufsed with pedros.

Personally, I'd suspect that some vendors would send you any psychoactive cactus they had....making the assumption that you're only after the content

Agreed psyconaut, but nonetheless the "lumping" goes on.
