T.pachanoi (Pedro) seedlings (1 week old)

About 40 or so T.pachanoi (Pedro) grown from 100 seeds in just 3 weeks... the heated propagator has made a massive difference to the germination time and germination rate. I watered lightly but very often, the bottom heat dries out the soil very quickly. Enjoy......

awww they are so cute.
I want to try raising some from seeds. Can anyone point me to where to buy seeds (In the U.S.) and a guide to raising them?
I just bought a cutting a couple months ago. My first cacti.

I got cuttings from: www.bouncingb.com they also sell seeds. I was thinking of buying some recently, but thought I would wait until the spring, so they are able to enjoy a full season. They go dormant during the winter, I think.

Hi SE,
I have been very interested in your heated propagator, could you give me more details on it. Like brand, where you got it, picture of it. I want to purchase something similar here in the US, or make something similar. Thank you for everything.

I bought the heated propagator for them in B&Q, for only 10 pounds. I noticed they had heating cable, which is placed directly in the soil and is attached to a thermostat, but it was very expensive. Future investment perhaps....!
Here is a picture...

Just plug it in and away you go.

to germinate cactus seeds i suggest you next time to use spread the seeds in a small plastic pot, say couple on inches diameter...it?s more easy to manage, to water etc. of course you can start the seeds inside the propagator, but if you do within pots works way better. perhaps a pic is better than 1000 words...
one last note...try to use a less organic soil, for what i?ve found increases dramatically germination rates..
