David Blain in a box for 44 days.

For those who haven't heard, American "illusionist" (read "nutter") David Blain is living in a see-thru box suspended above the Thames river in London for 44 days without access to food. He has only water, diapers, a notebook and pen and blankets.

I'm at a loss as to what he's trying to achieve. Are we meant to be impressed?

How many people do you know that have lived in a box above a river for fourty days with only water and diapers and shit? Are you willing to try to survive like that? You tell me if we are to be impressed or not.

Yeah, but what's the point? It's not like he's achieving anything worthwhile.

If i ate a hundred oranges in half an hour, i'd be vomitting and have the runs for days, and people might say "Wow, he fucking ate 100 oranges in half an hour, that's amazing! I could never do that"; but still, where's the point?

What's the point in anything? What was the point of climbing Mt. Everest, or doing back breaking labour day in and day out to raise a kid who dies in a car due to a drunk driver?

1. anyone that makes a point to do stupid shit like that for publicity deserves to die (like he would if he actually didnt eat anything for 44 days)
2. david blain is really annoying
3. the only way i'll be impressed is if he dies and people finally realize that shit like this is just dumb. unfortunately, they probably wont and will say shit like "oh that poor man, something must have gone wrong."
4. if he is still alive in 44 days theres no way in hell i'll believe it.

It's not like that though, people have survived for much longer without food. It's like climbing to the top of a mediocre mountain and shouting 'hey look at me, I can climb a mountain'. Big deal

Thats too bad you guys think like that. Maybe the point is spiritual. For instance, this could be a way Blanes way of saying that anything is possibe and that we rely too much on food for energy which makes society greedy amunst themselves.

whats the point of judging an action that you may not know the reason behind. Your judgment holds no value unless your theorizing.

David Blaine is just drinking a different cup of tea that you have never tried, so how can you hold a valid opinion on which you have never experienced.

For an average human being who is at thair correct wieght and body fat(blain seems to be at this or lower) one must follow the rule of 3s. 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food.

He cannot survive 44 days on water alone. And if he did his body would have already eaten away all of his muscle tissue leaving only skin bones and barely functioning organs
