Re: please help!!! white fuzz on drying mushrooms...

Once again my point is proven, dessicant sucks, take them out and set them on a papper towel, or by a food dehydrator, they work better, faster, cleaner and you wont notice any lose of potnetcy.

dessicant doesnt suck if used properly....dont use dessicant alone, as it is slow and will allow time for rotting...use a fan or something first, then dessicant as a finish

I agree. Fan dry or dehydrate overnight, then use dessicant. Takes about 24 hours. Remember not to use to much heat if your dehydrator uses a heating coil. Forced air will probably work better, i am getting one in a couple of days. We'll see.

ok...we ALL agree that the drying method used could have been better but ARE the mushrooms inedible now?? that's what i REALLY NEED to know. the fuzz looks like mycelium....not the cob web stuff although it does NOT stain blue when touched. please advise on whether they are edible or not, even after drying. thanks.
