anybody know anything about growing truffles
    #19856559 -

I live in western NC and ive deduced that my area is suitable for cultivation because there are a few farms in Asheville

I have seen some spawn/mycelium for sale on ebay but I cant really make anything out of the description because it is in broken Ukrainian English

im convinced that it can be done but just wondering what is involved
im pretty sure it takes quite a while to produce anything but im game

its said that they like to grow on hazel trees and im not sure if they mean like a hazel nut tree or a witch hazel tree

we have a lot of witch hazel trees in my neck of the woods

I would love to discuss this with somebody that knows

besides buying trees...here is the method i'm gonna try soon.

start seedlings in sterilized soil - apparently hazelnuts are hard as fuck to germinate.

grow for a few months.

buy truffle from domestic source so it is not chinese.  you really don't want that.  and a lot of truffles from europe are actually chinese.

put the truffle in a blender with some water.

pour that on your seedlings or take them out and dip the roots in the slurry.

Hazel nut trees and like above start with sterile roots and dip into truffle spores from the made up truffle slurry.

Ensure pH of soil is around 8.2, well drained and has a clay content less than 30%

I read that a fella can inoculate an oak tree

I looked on ebay and came up with two sources

don't cost too much to play around

I just wanna see if I can do it

I got the perfect place

there are farms not too terribly far from me so I know they will grow in my area
