 That's pretty much what I was getting at. Just don't get hooked on the benzos because that w/d is exponentially worse. After 2 weeks cut out the benzos IMO.

Edit: I just read magicman's full post. It worked for him, so that's what matters. I have the same way of thinking about delaying the inevitable but whatever works for different people.

Not true at all. You can wein down to a dose that creates almost no withdrawal. Like .1 MGs. I'm in a suboxone support group and I've seen people get off huge heroin habits without any withdrawal. Its misleading to make such broad statements.

It delays the inevitable if you don't taper down :your dose and are just taking it short term. Then yeah, after you run out your sick. If used properly how it was intended, one can get completely opiate free with little to no discomfort.

My experience has been different.
As far as i, and everyone i've known who was addicted, can tell... the idea of withdrawl free cessation is a myth

Well I can tell you first hand it isn't. The problem is it takes a LONG time. A year or more at least to completely eliminate WDs. People do it in 3 months all the time and do experience WD symptoms but not nearly as severe as if they went cold turkey. Not knocking cold turkey, its the best way if you can make it work. I lacked the willpower, it wasn't until I was on subs for 4 months that I could even imagine living without opiates.

How is a year on suboxone not prolonging the inevitable?

To be honest cd turkey works best for me, but like I said about the hydros, which I am prescribed, I went a month with nothing thinking it was meds telling me it hurt, but unfortunately not!

By the way I do not know if you read about my avatar but I need some guidance, I had one but it told me to resize which I do not know how, computer ill. Is there someone who could give me a clue on what to do?

I figured you meant withdrawal by inevitable. You won't experience it if you take the long route. You also will be fully functional during this period and able to get your life together all while slowly releasing the crutch. By the end of the year you should be stable in all facets of life. Rather than going cold turkey and having to deal with post acute withdrawals for 6 months sometimes all while trying to rebuild your life. Its very hard to do. Props to anyone who successfully does it. I'm just stating what has worked for me as well as many others. Whichever path you choose, stick with it. You can do it!

I went to jail on 120 MGs of methadone. Kicked cold turkey, didn't sleep for a month. If I did sleep it was like 5 mins at a time. So horrible! I even fainted once during head count, I was messed up. Torture. Inhumane IMO. Wouldn't wish it for my worst enemy.

All thebaine derivatives are pretty stimulating (buprenorphine, oxycodone). Very different feel than the standard morphine derivatives.

I've seen suboxone save dozens of ordinary people's lives that picked up nasty opiate addictions. It allows you to remove yourself from the harmful drug lifestyle and habits so you can get a normal life together. "Delaying the inevitable" isnt really applicable IMO because for an opiate addict, the physical w/d is the easiest part. Its that whole, you know, staying clean for the rest of your life that is the hard part. And I believe suboxone does wonders for helping people put a life together so they have something there for them when they finally break dependence.

The problem with cold turkey is a lot of people make it through w/d fine but then they are like 'now what?'. They have no life established beyond one that revolves 100% around drugs. So they slide back into the only thing they know.

What's the diff. Subs or heroin both will and can kill you, at least subs are in a pharmaceutical package! Not saying it's a good idea but people do it, trust me I have seen it with my own 2 eyes!

I was actually just put on suboxone this past monday and can say it does indeed make me a bit high. I'm not talking nodding the fuck out high but most certainly puts me in a much better mood than without

Ok, I know this is fifty days old, but I had a really bad experience with subs last week, and thought this was necassary, (yeah a week, but this has weighed heavily on my mind) as my sig. reads I do not want anyone imatating me!

I am not a young kid, and should know better by this point in my life, still working on it thought! I banged a half of a sub after not doing it for a long time, mind you I just came off a hardcore heron binge.

Anyways, I thought I was going to die, it must've been the precipated wd they talk about, but it was the weirdest feeling of my life, not exactly as bad as wd pain, but this was no joke! I recommend this to no one, and hope my first post was not taken the wrong way! As in not as bad as the pain of wd, there was no pain, just a feeling that I had FUCKED UP, and was on my way to pushing up Daisy's, so please take this shit as directed!
