there WAS a second-wave hippie movement of peace and love. it was called PLUR and raves. Look at what they did to the raves--commercialized "EDM" LOL what a JOKE

The artist are starting to make actual money and stuff, good for them

My friend went to electric daisy in Vegas. He said that most of the people there were teens who were drinking, and most of them didn't even know what ketamine was.

Man, you'd have to PAY ME to go to that party.

Well, it was in vegas man.

I doubt he talked to most of the people there.  Also, second summer of love was a term coined by some wanker in England.  Rave scene and hippie movement are nothing alike, except that there are a lot of sluts and drugs.

And good vibes.  A lot of rave kids are hippies in the works and a good bit are definitely hippies.

Not in the NYC scene.  It was the scummiest music scene I was ever a part of by far.

Seems that the raves are surprisingly much better in rural areas of America than So Cal. I remember a friend of mine went to a rave in Indiana and he said that the raves there have so much better vibes and real PLUR. In So Cal, there are tons of gangbangers and I've been to raves where people have gotten stabbed.

If you really open your eye's to the culture right now it's terribly clear that the direction is set on Peace and Love. As far as the youth go, that is.

Like Greenterror said, start with the fashion, look at what's coming back. Now listen to the new and popular wave of folk and 60's revival that's been hitting the air. You'll see it.

Depends on where YOU are.

Where i live, the culture is probably as far from peace and love as you could get.

Peace and love is a joke in today's times.

"Money and solitude" I'm all for peace and love but i don't foresee that happening

I'm about to be 60 yrs old & was a hippie starting in 1969. A high school buddy & me took 3 yrs & hitch-hiked cross-country, plus went down to Mexico for a month just travelling around, meeting new people, doing any drug that came our way (& we did pay when asked).
We made it to San Fran in 1972 & we were too late. No more hipsters there...just junkies & hookers by then. Plus we weren't all 'peace & love' as I had to slice some punks who thought we were easy marks. We bathed regularly, ate good (but had to do some 'dine & dash'), stayed high mostly & lived day-to-day.
Never ripped off anyone, had many adventures/escapades, & basically didn't conform to what the 'suits' thought was the way to be. We made our own rules, but never hurt anyone who didn't have it coming to them. We lived simply, possessions weren't important...all we needed was some Microdot, Windowpane, or Blotter acid...a good concert with good people & life was much simpler then. If we wanted to see the Grand Canyon, we actually went to it without Googling the damn thing.
I'm all for a hippie resurgence. I'll wash down the LSD with some Geritol & watch you youngsters realize that you've stereotyped all hippies as unclean moochers, which is the farthest from the truth. :stoner:

The real hippies of the 60's grew up and sold everyone out.

Psychedelic experience is only a glimpse of genuine mystical insight, but a glimpse which can be matured and deepened by the various ways of meditation in which drugs are no longer necessary or useful. If you get the message, hang up the phone. For psychedelic drugs are simply instruments, like microscopes, telescopes, and telephones. The biologist does not sit with eye permanently glued to the microscope, he goes away and works on what he has seen - Alan Watts

I don't think hippie is the correct term. I do think that it will involve some sort of rebelion though. I could be wrong who knows. I hope for a change.

Yah I would agree most of them did but that's not really what I was getting at just that these stereotypes are not true and all dif people act in all dif ways and there isn't much meaning behind words like hippie anymore because some who dresses like a g can act like a hippie and vise versa it happens quit often really

Its not like anyone could register to be a hippie, its just a term people used for themselves or others.  Some people say it doesn't apply, others disagree.  They look the same and do the same type of shit so it seems silly to argue about it.
