I would like you to point out where I said work is pointless. What I said was it's not their "primary objective" in life. If all you are worried about is making money, you just don't get it. Because no matter how much money you have, you'll never have enough.
People were on this planet long before the implementation of currency.

I'm very lazy as well.
Except I still get things accomplished with half of my day.
What the fuck does a hippie do?

I dunno, but I don't see why you're so uppity about it. They don't wanna make money, then they don't want to make money. It isn't a requirement in life unless you make it one.

In my opinion, hippie is a member of a dead culture. Anybody called 'hippie' nowadays, is just an extension of the counterculture of the '60s.
When it was still relevant, it meant radical thinker, drug user (mainly psychedelics and cannabis), showing an affinity towards psychedelic art and fashion, anti-Vietnam War, ant-establsishment.
Although, there are definitely some overlaps.

If having money and driving a nice car is what you believe life is all about then you've been blinded by materialism. That's the real problem, not the "lazy hippy"

He is ashamed before the blade of grass or the blowing rose.Man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time TRANSCEND

This is actually the kind of thinking that hippies were rebelling against.

Its not "what life's all about". Its stuff that improves your quality of life.
Making money is not inherently evil. Being greedy is.

That brings up another point:
There are wealthy people who would describe themselves as hippies. I'm sure some of them even fit all your definitions, EXCEPT for the one about making money. What about those people? Are they not true hippies because they happen to have money?
Trust-fund hippies. The dreadlocked white kids who live off mom & dad, and use their birthday money to fly around the world acting like a hippie in various other countries. Some of those people are genuinely nice, friendly, non-greedy people...they just happened to be born to people with money. Are they not hippies because they have money? Why not? Isn't that just discrimination against people with money? Not a very "hippie" attitude to have...
I don't see why any of you would want an antiquated label like "hippie" thrust upon yourselves anyhow. The sixties and seventies are long over. Why don't we quit dwelling on the past, and try to make things better NOW, in a relevant way?
