He's in rehab now

Today I found out that one of my old dealer friends (who used to go to my church) is in rehab following an incident with the hospital and some cops. As you can understand, this is really pretty saddening, especially since I had planned to get to know him better in the coming months.

I don't know if many of you guys pray, but say a few words for him if you do. Anyone lost a friend to drugs before? I know this isn't totally the right forum for such a conversation, but I guess I could just do with some words right now.

Lost many to drugs. Lost many more because of drugs: not so much because the drugs ruined our relationship but because of the legal forces which get involved when you get in trouble for drugs. I'll send vibes his way. Doesn't look like you know his situation that well, whether he really wants to be in rehab or just got fucked up, lost his mind, and got himself in a world of trouble. I don't think it really matters in the end. Society is a cold bitch

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. I'm sure he appreciates it. I'll post an update if I get one, but he seems to be doing well enough to text. He says he was going down a pretty bad path as it was, which was true. It's not because he was dealing, it was that he'd already had emotional problems and feeling undervalued for a really long time. I can't remember the last time I saw him sober, and he always looked either sick or hungover.

I sure hope that never happens to anyone else I care about!

He can text?  The rehabs I went to didn't allow cell phones.

The rehabs I know of definitely wouldn't help with feeling emotionally undervalued either  :loldongs:

The rehab I just completed only allowed 1 supervised call a week, and no cell phone or TV.

Probably the  most important 4 weeks of my life...:thinker:
