So I'm going to rehab

So my dad just signed me up for a teen and youth supporting program for battling drug addiction.

I don't even smoke weed that much anymore and the last time I did a hard drug like Oxy or H was over 6 months ago. I'm not an addict, I don't have physical withdrawals, and drugs aren't ruining my academic or social life but my old man doesn't seem to understand or care.

So yeah, this is going to be really lame and I don't want to go in the slightest. I have to though, otherwise my dad is planning on completely cutting me out of his life, emotionally and financially.

What do people do at these stupid rehab orgies anyway? Do they just tell sob stories and try to inspire each other. I really don't want to sit around a bunch of raging alcoholic and coke addicts.

Its going to be awkward and i don't want to go. :frown:

Did anyone have a fun experience? Please do share ~_~

Make the most of it OP. Obviously if you're not a drug addict than obviously you don't have to worry about overcoming your addictions but use this as an opportunity to learn about yourself and have some interesting experiences.

Don't think of it as a chore - think of it as a unique adventure to be made the most out of.

It's pretty shitty. Where I went you had a daily schedule. Wake up at 6 breakfast at 7, then you have to do different shit in groups throughout the day. Oh yeah and they treat you like your a kindergardener... can't leave during group, they take attendance, etc

I went to rehab once, but I needed it. Didn't want to go at the time, but it ended up being for the best.
How I'm still alive, I don't know.
I hated rehab for my first of 3 months. Enjoyed it afterwards.
I was in a fuckin' resort though. Wayne Brady was at the place I went to.
We went on helicopter rides through the mountains and went on hikes & had this big ass indoor rock climbing wall and big ass indoor ropes course & had 5 star meals every day.
Lindsay Lohan went there too & fucked most the guys there.

Good for you OP.  Right now you may not think you need it, or consider yourself an addict, but considering your profile title is "Tweak all day, nod all night", it sounds like it could be a beneficial experience. And even if you are only going to make your pops happy, I guarantee you will make a few friends and learn a few things.  I recommend trying to gain the most out of the experience, think of it as a 30 day vacation from your drug career. Who knows? Something might stick.

Do you know where you are going for treatment? After spending 5 days in a detox facility, I was checked in to residential treatment in south Florida for benzo/opiate addiction on Thanksgiving day last year and stayed until a few days after Christmas. I went kicking and screaming the whole way down there.  I had absolutely no intention of quitting dope or changing my life in any way for that matter.  But when I got there, something changed. I realized that all the stigma associated with rehab was all just hear say from people who had never actually been before.

In fact, after I accepted my situation, realized I did almost die from an OD, and had put my family and everyone I know through hell for the past 5 years, I decided to just pay attention and take suggestions from the people who wanted to actually see me succeed in life and be happy.  Even though I certainly still had my reservations, and yes, I still had it in my head that I was incurable and would suffer from the disease of addiction for the rest of my life, I realized I was no different from anyone else there, no matter what their drug of choice may have been. We were all addicts. I started making friends and began to actually enjoy being there.

I decided that even if I was stuck there, I was going to make the best out of the situation, which really wasn't all that bad.  We did meditation twice a week, yoga on Thursdays, went to the beach on Saturdays. I had an apartment with 3 room mates, we did all our own shopping and cooking, swimming pool, and flat screen tv with HBO, lol.  Yes, there was 7 hours of group a day and we did go to NA meetings, but once you start meeting people it isn't so bad.

After residential treatment, I thought I could go back to my old ways.  When they tell you it will only get worse after your first treatment, believe them. I could not get using out of my head. Well, I relapsed on Etizolam and heroin, almost died...again. My brother found me with spoons, needles, heroin and an empty bottle of Etizolam next to my bed. I was Marchmen-Acted, again, spent 5 days in detox, than was court ordered Intensive Outpatient Program, or IOP.  I am now 35 days clean from benzo's and opiates and tomorrow is my last day of oupatient.  I am still attending NA meetings, not because anyone makes me, but because it works for me.  Its really no different talking to a bunch of addicts at a meeting than on here. Only difference is they aren't using. Being in recovery has taught me how to deal with stress and emotions without shooting dope, and has shown me a healthier way of life.

There is much more to it than 30 days in residential. You gotta change people, places, and things.  The friends I choose to hang out with now actually care about me, not just a bunch of druggie buddies. I still partake in psychedelic's like LSD and mushrooms in moderation.  The experience is much more meaningful now. My festy friends are really the only ones that stuck around after I stopped using opiates, which they frowned upon all along.

I think if you put your ego aside, go in optimistic and willing to learn something, anything, you may find it isn't so bad.

It works, if you work it :cool:

OP Rehab is a great place if your an addict, but if your not it's fucking useless.

If I were you I would do some heroin right before hand, so you fail a drug test and have them put you on suboxone for withdrawal :thumbup:

at least then it will be alittle more bearable

My social worker tried getting me to a youth rehab and i turn 20 in 2 months, dude.

Plus Iwas 18 when i went, and yes, my parents made the decision to have me go. Whenyour financially dependent on them they kindof call the shots.

If that's the case, and OP does happen to be of age (doubtful) He can refuse to go.

Simple as that.

My mom tried to make me go to rehab when she found a half-O of white in my room. She refused to believe I wasn't doin' that much recreationally :ducklol: She thought I had a serious problem.

I am not sure how it is so blatantly obvious to you that OP dosn't need it.  From what I gather, OP has a history of heroin and other opiate abuse, his title is "Tweak all day, nod all night", and if OP's father is willing to drop around $50,000 on rehab, shit, they might actually fucking need it!

Most people dont think they need  to go to rehab. Most won't even admit they are an addict and have a problem.  Most addicts lie about the last time they used as well.

Just because OP dosn't feel using is affecting them in a negative way, sounds like other people who know them IRL think it is :shrug:
