I wouldn't know I have never been to a rehab/detox place and I don't smoke.

OP you raise a good point.

Friends of mine who went to AA/NA told me how they serve coffee and donuts at every meeting, and I did read some AA/NA lit online and it said that if you're having a craving to eat something sugary.

I've heard from alcoholics and drug addicts that AA/NA can for some people just be substitute addictions, and let's face it people do get addicted to caffeine and can be addicted to sugar too.

I'm not against AA/NA or rehab/detox places since they do work for people and lots of people do have to go to rehab/detox so they can get off drugs safely around medical professionals but I have never been to a place like that or even an AA/NA meeting.

This is true. My grandfather was a heavy drinker before I was born, now he's hardcore AA, smokes multiple packs worth of RYO and drinks coffee from daylight to dark.

Then again . . . Ive never been to rehab, smoke like a chimney, and have to have my coffee.

They're not still craving it though...

BUT I think you're right... the rehab I went to, Valley Hope, (for 2 weeks LOL SUCKERS), "required" us to tell the staff when we were having cravings and they'd make us a gatorade or fruit punch with an especially sweet/bioavailable(?) sugar called polycose.



Smoking is sooo ubiquitous with recovery culture though. Funny cause the shit I was doing before rehab would be waaay less likely to kill me early than the 1-2 pack a day habit I picked up at rehab from my prior "social smoking" scheme. Just glad I quit! :thumbup:
