Death of the self.. death? You do not cast, you let go. When we are still talking about "you" removing the ego.. you see how that is a little flawed.. ?

One needs to stop having a human expereance and just be, feel and respond. Do not think, analyse and reflect.

Saying that.. it is not neciserly a good idea.. balancing the whole and all, but the ego should grow as big to be recognized..

I'm following, you remind me of a good friend, very precise with his words, I personally am very clumsy with mine.

In any case, like I stated before, I personally as well as I would assume most people have seen things while on psychedelics that I or they have never witnessed in my lifetime, or their lifetime, where do these things come from? I'm not saying they are definitely from a past lifetime. But it's always made sense to me in the moment, while experiencing it.

I know how profound and extraordinary delusions of grandeur can be, but I honestly believe we are beings of limitless power once we become truly self aware.

Oh, believe me, I know ego-death very well. It's a welcomed friend whereas most of my friends lose all composure at a glimpse of it. If you don't know me, thats cool, im not trying to be somebody special. All I'm saying is that no matter how hard you try to get rid of the ego, and yes, you getting rid of your ego is a ridiculous statement because YOU are your ego. Your ego will simply become "I am humble and without ego" which is just as much of an ego as before. I will admit though, that i just ripped that off of a great article i read, but I've always believed the same

you always have an ego
but you can transcend your ego after an egodeath, when you realize it is not you

I am not my thoughts,emotions,desires
they don't always do what I want them to do, I can chose / create my own thoughts, without selfish intent
with intent that is in the interest for everybody, not just myself
thoughts come and go, but only those that are useful I use, else I step back

it will always come back, but it is possible to transcend it
people who meditate everyday for years don't have much ego left most of them
if you work in the interest of others, with love, living as the ego will seem pointless and absurd
it will have very little control over you

Nice :thumbup: Transcending ones self for the love of others. Truly a beautiful and mutually beneficial thing, I believe this is the course mankind is taking evolutionarily

Yup it is not easy

people spend their whole lives trying

if you try your best to treat others as yourself always you might be on the path

there are many ways of falling through, wanting to be perfect i.e. :-)

if you realize others are you and treat them as such then you might be on the path to acceptance
it is interesting buddhism teaches this and the quran too(islam)

it is a life long process likely, avoiding stress is good too

nobody makes it to heaven, so you better make the best of this round because it's the only one. Now, isn't that a better message than something sociopathological like the catholics with their 'you can go on a killing spree, but if you fess up before you die then you're good with god' policy?

i am quite confident that we have 'souls' although i really think that could mean many things. it could mean your body, not only your physical but astral, dream body, etc.

but what it means to me is just the fact that i am more than the physical body, the soul is like an object in higher dimensions that isn't necessarily identified with the physical. it's 'you' without any qualities or characteristics, just a point of attention, viewing the screen of reality, which includes mind and body.

and even attention itself can be observed so it gets to a place where the concept of 'soul' is definitely just another object within awareness

I feel we are a soul that has a body.

On some level, we all share the same soul.

That fragments to give rise to indidivual human lives.

So on and so forth and here we are talking about souls.

There is only eternity of Now. Nothing else.

No-thingness is the essence of our nature.

It's not like I have a soul and you have a soul. We are both soul/spirit.

Our individual connection to the divine, I feel, is mediated by a higher self personality and beyond that level is the witness of the soul, the aspect of you that is always aware of, first, it's own existence.

yeah but, there's a real possibility that death isn't the end to everything. at the least i think we end up just merging back with the universe and becoming one with all that is. but there's also the possibility that the mind lives on past the body.

'death' is just when your body can't go on any more and becomes inanimate matter, there's so much more to the universe than just gross matter.
