definitely not good. Microwaves do leak small amount of microwave radiation. The eyes are especially sensitive to it, and it can cause cataracts.

And that one isnt disputed much. even the FDA has warnings about exposing the eyes to microwaves and cataracts,

RF Effects on the human body[edit]

Extremely Low frequency RF[edit]
High-power extremely Low frequency RF with electric field levels in the low kV/m range are known to induce perceivable currents within the human body that create an annoying tingling sensation. These currents will typically flow to ground through a body contact surface such as the feet, or arc to ground where the body is well insulated.[9][10]
Microwaves[edit]
Microwave exposure at low-power levels below the Specific absorption rate set by government regulatory bodies are considered harmless non-ionizing radiation and have no effect on the human body. However, levels above the Specific absorption rate set by the FCC at considered potentially harmful. See, Mobile phone radiation and health
Long-term exposure to high-levels of microwaves, is recognized, from experimental animal studies and epidemiological studies in humans, to cause cataracts. The mechanism is unclear but may include changes in heat sensitive enzymes that normally protect cell proteins in the lens. Another mechanism that has been advanced is direct damage to the lens from pressure waves induced in the aqueous humor.
High-power exposure to microwave RF is known to create a range of effects from lower to higher power levels, ranging from unpleasant burning sensation on the skin and Microwave auditory effect, to extreme pain at the mid-range, to physical burning and blistering of skin and internals at high power levels. Also, see Microwave burn.
General RF exposure[edit]
Canadian safety code 6, also, recommends electric field limits of 100 kV/m for pulsed EMF to prevent air breakdown and spark discharges. Additional rational for EMF restrictions is to avoid auditory effect and energy-induced unconsciousness in rats.[11]
Also, See Electromagnetic radiation and health.
For high-power RF exposure see radiation burn.
For low-power RF exposure see Radiation-induced cancer.

i think the point was microwaves are not very dangerous phones are much much higher in radiation than microwaves or the sun which is only half of what a microwave does or 1/ 100 th of a cell phon e when it is common knowledge that the sun gives alot of people cancer and is 1/100th less than phones it is likely cell phone cancer will be 100 times more common than skin cancer is.
I am not kidding when i say there are trackers everywhere that scan your ID wherever you may go so i have heard you have to wrap your ID in tin foil (from a respecteble source not a shitzo) so now i should wrap my phone in foil also i geusse man i feel crazy LOL...

Your microwave uses microwave radiation.

There is an episode of Discovery's "Don't Do This At Home" or whatever it was called, they took a few microwaves, put them in a closet wrapped in aluminum foil, and it not only set off their geiger meter, but cooked the fish quickly.

I really doubt it, at least with a modern microwave. Microwaves do not escape faraday cages.

Nor do they emit alpha or beta particles, which is what Geiger counters detect.

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/frontal-cortex/2012/06/brain-experiments-why-we-dont-believe-science.html

Why your answer doesn't bother me.

Oh man, that's hilarious. Leave it to politicians to explain why we shouldn't trust scientists.

Quote:
“Actually, Dr. Hawking, our biggest blunder as a society was ever listening to people like you,” said Rep. Bachmann. “If black holes don’t exist, then other things you scientists have been trying to foist on us probably don’t either, like climate change and evolution.”

"You scientists".

The point was that the current educational paradigms focus on absolutes and dismissing what could be. Science is in essence a great thing but the way we are taught to use it is improper and an interference to learning more. You simply dismissed the idea by subversively calling me crazy, and that is in essence what the article is about.

For instance we are still taught a few fundamentally wrong aspects of our solar system. #1 Nibiru was discovered in the late 1800s. #2 is that our orbits are very fixed and circular. That is very wrong. They intersect(on a 2D perspective). This ties in with #3 that we are fixed in space, circling the sun. That is also wrong. The sun is in orbit of something else. We are a moving mass, circling the sun in helixes and barrel rolls cascading through the cosmos, held strong very adamantly through electomagnetism and momentum.

Those are all things that we teach children because children do not have the ability to understand the solar system in all of its complexity. Your example isn't very good.

To the point:  Science doesn't teach anyone anything. Science is a system for organizing information through observation, experimentation and logic.

You say that we teach people to use science improperly. The scientific method can't be misused. It can only be misunderstood. Science is either applied properly or not applied at all. You can't blame science for the fact that people misunderstand science, that's not what science is for.

Microwaves are resonant with the vibrations of water molecules. The only thing microwaves can do is increase the amount the water molecules vibrate, increasing their temperature. If you are exposed to microwaves, you can get thermal injuries, no different than if you stuck a body part in hot water.

If you have a microwave, you can test how much possibly leakage there may be.

Take your cellphone or netbook connected to WIFI. and put it in your microwave and close the door. If your connection drops then there isnt an issue. if it doesnt drop, then waves are escaping your microwave.

you can also use a flourescent light, turn your microwave on and hold the light to it, if your microwave is leaking it will light up the bulb a bit.

I just tested my microwave which is fully wrapped in metal, when I put my phone in the microwave, all wifi signal dropped. Open the door and signal comes back.

Also, here is a thread started by someone who does microwave testing for work.
http://www.theiet.org/forums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=205&threadid=32673

In the thread they link to this page.  http://h2inspections.com/microwave-leakage.html

Which says
Quote:
        Do Microwaves Leak?

A survey conducted among the Professional Service Associates, a group of microwave repair servicemen, indicated that over 56% of microwave ovens two years or older leaked levels of radiation 10% higher than the safety standards set by the FDA.  More often than not, a simple adjustment was all that was needed to stop the leakage.

What Causes Microwave Ovens To Leak?

Slamming the oven door, dirt or food particles caught in the door seals and hinges, or basic        wear and tear all cause the oven door to slightly seperate from the oven enclosure.  Once          this happens, invisible, but highly dangerous microwaves leak through the small space and          cause irreversible damage and injury to the user.

How Dangerous are Microwaves to People?

The FDA has established microwave radiation exposure levels greater than 5mw/cm2 to be dangerous, but many medical experts disagree and think this level should be lowered. Independent studies have revealed levels much lower can cause:

It takes time for exposure. The main point for the thread was I was bored and saw some shady information so I posted it for general knowledge and a little discussion. Instead I was met with automatic disbelief and people telling me I'm wrong. First of all I've only stated and left links for facts and credible sources. Secondly, this only supports what I was talking about with the science thing.

In school what do they do when they are asking about things? They ask for the answer, tell you that you are wrong, then move on and announce the correct answer. They don't ask, now everyone why was he thinking properly? Or why did you come to that conclusion? Nope, you are not credited for thinking, you are credited for parroting. Kids are taught from a young age to accept what they are told, think very little, and that their potential has a limit. Kids can understand the concepts of the universe if you take the time and proper approach. You will see, when my son is 4 years old and has as much of a grasp on quantum mechanics as you do. We all have infinite potential, and much like a nice dank plant, it takes some proper care and nurturing to produce the perfect mature buds. I can say with utmost certainty I would have understood the simple concepts of our solar system from a young age if only I was taught them.

Perhaps science is getting the wrong rap in this case, but the education system is whacked.

Hey, teachers, leave those kids alone.

I can get my microwave to run with the door open. I've been using this feature to warm my hands up after being outside in the cold. I just have to be careful to not get my face too close or my vision gets all funky.

Science is independent of teaching. Science is independent of ignorance. What you're saying is like saying that calculus is wrong because you don't get it. There are people who understand science and people who don't, but it's not the fault of science that people don't understand it.

Nothing I said implied I don't understand science. That's just some half-assed insult you tried to throw at me for assuming the educational system might be out to get you.

I can give you one good sentence that more properly defines science than you did. Skepticize everything.

The education system is fundamentally flawed.

And koods: read a few books, spend a few days, or weeks in my case on the nazis and sumerians, then we can talk. There are more than a few books by credible scientists on the sumerians, and of course many declassified files on Nazis that actually support the Nazis way to osmose in to the US system. We have tablets that date back to Lemuria. And they are in museums. The Akkadians have much to tell as well.
