In the beggining, bare minumum of over 8 billion years from earths perspective god made Adam and eve. That's where humans came from. So then what? They died out dinosaurs and such roamed and then evolution just happened to create the human again in a similar fashion millions of years later?
Speaking of dinosaurs to. A priest once told me dinosaur fossils were put here by god to test faith.. Um what!

The earth is 6,000 years old and Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden of the back of a t-Rex.

And, pondering on this the other day, wouldn't this imply that we're all beings brought into this divine opportunity by... people who committed incest?!?!?! Yet Jesus was born of a Virgin.

Nothing wrong with a little incest now and then. The Romans did it all the time, and look how well it worked out for them!

Well then that's not the beginning. With that logic god was created by a higher being to take some load off creating a possibly endless universe.

Besides there is evidence of humans are 5000 years. I see what you mean. He waited till then to make humans but that's a limited text ignoring all other life. But I guess since "animals don't have souls" its cool.

The bible was put here by aliens to fuck with our heads, so when they come back, we will believe they are the divine and only way to heaven.
They have been playing us like fiddles for thousands of years.

I know one person IRL who tells me they "Don't believe in dinosaurs". Her basis was that she doesn't believe scientists, and has never personally seen any real fossils. Then later in the conversation, I explained that I have personally excavated dinosaur fossils. Her reply was: "Oh I believe that way back, there were animals that are much much larger than we have today". I literally face palmed and said, "Yeah, that's what a dinosaur is".

I can't participate,laughing too hard!
-------------------- Rocks speak to me, and tell me this: The Hell Creek formation is a gigantic slab of rocks that covers several western states. It contains an account of the dinosaurs' demise. In the late Cretaceous period, the first Cannabis species appear, and soon after, all the non-bird dinosaurs disappeared. Obviously, marihuana killed the dinosaurs. That giant meteor that smacked the yucatan peninsula right afterwards, coincidence.

(bill hicks)
that seems to be the most common excuse for fossils by dumb creationists.
the story of adam and eve goes deep. very very deep. entirely symbolic. and makes a lot of sense at the heart of the story. it's about the fall from grace, and entering into the prison of ego. it's the price we must pay to attain enlightenment.
you can get just as much sense out of JRR Tolkien's the similarion
y'know what happens when symbolic stories get translated in a literal context? nonsense

I think the chances of there being a god that is described in the bible and the whole creation thing is at least possible. Who are we to say what can or can not be? We can only make our best attempts with the information we have on what seems to make the most sense. However, faith is in opposition to that, by its very nature. The Denisovians are a recently recognized hominid species, and part of their DNA as well as 8% of the Neanderthal genome contains unknown hominin DNA. Who's to say Adam and Eve aren't the original ancient primate ancestors, and the image of God is more like a monkey than a human?
Do I think they are... No.

if the god of the bible is the god of reality, then we're all doomed. not sure if you read the bible, but that god guy in it is an asshole\\
examples:
Quote:
1 "I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. She must be quiet." (1 Timothy 2:12)
2 "Go, now, attack Amalek, and deal with him and all that he has under the ban. Do not spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and asses." (1 Samuel 15:3)
3 "You shall not let a sorceress live." (Exodus 22:18)
4 "Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock." (Psalm 137:9)
5 "When the men would not listen to his host, the husband seized his concubine and thrust her outside to them. They had relations with her and abused her all night until the following dawn, when they let her go. Then at daybreak the woman came and collapsed at the entrance of the house in which her husband was a guest, where she lay until the morning. When her husband rose that day and opened the door of the house to start out again on his journey, there lay the woman, his concubine, at the entrance of the house with her hands on the threshold. He said to her, 'Come, let us go'; but there was no answer. So the man placed her on an ass and started out again for home." (Judges 19:25-28)
6 "And the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity." (Romans 1:27)
7 "Jephthah made a vow to the Lord. 'If you deliver the Ammonites into my power,' he said, 'whoever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites shall belong to the Lord. I shall offer him up as a holocaust.' ... When Jephthah returned to his house in Mizpah, it was his daughter who came forth, playing the tambourines and dancing. She was an only child: he had neither son nor daughter besides her. When he saw her, he rent his garments and said, 'Alas, daughter, you have struck me down and brought calamity upon me. For I have made a vow to the Lord and I cannot retract'." (Judges 11:30-1, 34-5)
8 "Then God said: 'Take your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. There you shall offer him up as a holocaust on a height that I will point out to you'."(Genesis 22:2)
9 "Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:22)
10 "Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are perverse." (1 Peter 2:18)

Absolutely, if the Bible is right and we're not repentant, we sure are. I became a Christian when I was nineteen, and within the last year I've grown beyond that construct and don't really identify with it. I actually used to be a missionary and a youth leader, and would preach to junior highers some Sundays. Haha! But you never know... Pascal's wager and all that.
