The reason I ask is because it seems like the cakes may begin to run out of other nutrients (other than water) that it may need to produce the happy active ingredients. I really have no idea about this, that is why I'm asking.

i haven't noticed a diffrence in potency..but the shrooms will get skimpier and skimpier...they become less and less mushroom material and more and more water by weight.
