Psilocybe Cubensis "Creepers" PF-Tek cased

9/4/2003

20 1/2 pint jars, 12 using pond water and 8 with tap water (labeled of course), with layer of verm on bottom of jar, dunked for 24 hours



two jars per pan, cased side by side with ~60/40 coir/verm + eggshell

actually the two blue tubs making up the incubator will be the fruiting chambers when needed

what are you scared about?  it doesn't matter how dirty that water is, 45 minutes in a pressure cooker at 15PSI will kill everything.  just don't go getting your water from a waste treatment plant or nuclear facility :wink:

Ill try a few jars of pond water once i get through my first grow.. The rate of growth seems to be exponential.

so you just put the cakes inside of the pan, and kinda cased around it? i only ask because i've tried casing 3 times now and everytime it fails terriably.

yea, just put the cakes in and spread casing mix all around them, and on top. if i hadn't double-end cased the PF jars there would be room for more casing mix on top, and because there isn't enough it colonized too quickly and had to be birthed. pins are forming but not as nicely as i'd like, it might be too colonized and possibly too dry. heres a nice cluster however

the casing tek that i've used is where you crumble the cake into like, malt ball sized then case that way. turns out that's what i'm doing wrong eh? this time i've got 10 jars going pf tek style and i'm just going to birth oldschool style because that's where i've had the best of luck.

how much casing layer did you put on top of the actual case?

i don't think its about right or wrong, maybe personal preference? i wasn't about to sit there and crumble 20 cakes so i did this instead. on top of the cake there was about a cm or so worth of casing material.

nice job houshroom - don't be mean with the pics, i love pinshots as much as fruitshots! more more more :grin:

i agree that the surface is a little overcolonised, but you probably got away with it and avoided overlay. in the pros' shots (like in TMC) the casing surface looks the same at fruiting as it does when first applied, just covered in mushrooms.

you think it's dry? so mist it  :smile:  :thumbup: pink elephants rool
