Looking leucistic
    #18464564 -

I wonder if this is genetic or environmental.

I'm taking prints :derfase:

MS or clone?

:thanx:

It's "John Allen strain" and it is a clone, yes.

I had a bag of WBS spawn meant for a tub that had a pea-sized spot of bluing myc on it. I just cut the top, put it in the GH and fruited it with a 50/50+ casing.

I'm going to get these spores to agar quick and see how it goes.

Why spores to agar and not clone?

Supposedly, spores from a leucistic fruit will give you more leucistic fruits....

I read what you're saying, but that doesn't quite make sense to me.  Have a more detailed explanation?

I would have reasoned that a clone of the genetics making up the leucistic shroom would be more "accurate" than the genes from spores, considering all the potential mutations.

I don't completely understand it....and I don't think Frank does either...I think that's why he is doing this...

It's supposedly how albino A+ and other leucistic strains came to be.

It's already a clone that I have in storage and I'm sure with a little isolation work I could have it. I am against cloning clones pending further evidence

I'm not so much interested in a tub full of leucistic fruits as I am in finding out if their spores will continue the pattern. I've not really heard arguments much one way or the other, just anecdotes here and there.

luecism  can't be reset with multi-spore unlike albinism, you can fruit luecistic a as many times as you want and never get a normal mushroom out of it, but you can have a true albino prints produce no albino's at all.
with that said though it's an odd one considering he has started with a cloned culture.
but it's a reduced pigment and not lack of so it could be plausible the original fruit had traces of it:shrug:

I thought the same, that's why I'm wondering if it might have been an environmental issue as well.

However the clone I inoculated the grains with was not an isolate but had a few sectors I just took together.

Time will tell

well frank gave me one of the leucistic looking prints, first set i did had some very pale fruits but i could not confirm they were truly luecistic, in fact it's still up in the air as this last set i did i ended up with the same results(i did not use a luecistic print for this set either)

but indeed these do appear to be leucistic so i will be using thes prints for run number 3

thnx! i did the first run about 4 months ago and it produced some very pale fruits...like a pale yellow , but i had no agar to clone so i used a print again for this run and it was about 50/50 of regular/white fruits. gonna keep trying to get my pics to work

i gotta see some prints first, oddly everything i grew so far using my display case has showed no signs of spores at all:shrug:, not one of my rust spores produced any and so far the only john allen that has was the tub that was not in the display case...oh actually there are some lucy's on that tub now too! but still the four tubs in the case have not seen a single spore print:mad2:
