If DEET caused cancer in humans, we would know.  It just smells like it causes cancer.  The biggest problem with DEET, from my perspective, is that it tastes really bitter.  So you can't use it while you are on a date.

Are you sure they are chiggers?

Oh but yes, chiggers, every one. No way possible for stinging nettle to get in some of the affected areas that I have. Unless I were to have wiped with it. And I know that did not happen. I have not seen any S. nettle since I left Florida. At least, it seems absent from this part of Carolina, anyway.

" it smells like it causes cancer"
Man. That is so very true.
With all the medicinal fungus I eat that'd have to be one hell of a badass tumor to survive.
I found the deet or "deep woods off" to work better than I imagined.
My favorite forest for mushroom hunts is coincidentally INFESTED with ticks.
First time out this year " oh lemme check my legs and see if....oh my goddd 30 ticks per leg"
Then you get freaked out that they're all over you, which they probably are.

Next time out sprayed the off all over my shoes and legs.
Zero ticks that time. What a difference.
Funny , they say to always wear long pants but I actually prefer shorts. Then I can feel if something's crawling on me.  Seems like with pants, its just a vehicle for them to get up on your nuts of in your chest hairs...yikes!

DEET works well for me. It does taste bitter though... Makes a big difference in the amount of tick bites I get and Frontline works well for the dog.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

That's the other problem for me. I always have a dog with me.
Guy with backpack & no dog looks like weed grower. Guy with dog is ok. Haha
The best thing for doggies is feeding them lots of brewers yeast tablets daily.  Believe it or not, its better than frontline. It makes bugs wanna jump back off em.
Bob that's one hell of an avatar picture
