Ok fellas, Manawatu ID please.

Found these down by the river. Some had little 'speckles' of blueing but nothing when bruised. Was a tingey brown as spore print. Bitter mushroom smell.

yes there very far from them ,but if i'm not to badly mistaken they subs grow not to far away from them.

They are an indication that you're looking in the right places.

Subs can be a similar shape.

I looked in every inch of that bark didnt find anything really different too them. Yes ive heard that also.

Well yes, subs generally have a yellowy-brown cap and whiter stem.

Also not active.

Please remember to either cut the stem with scissors or pinch with your fingers, you don't want to rip them right out, that will prevent future growth.
