Strange Cultish Dream

Note: I almost never remember my dreams anymore and rarely in any detail. I was walking past this field and all manner of people were chanting and dancing and apparently following this handsome young "guru". They beckoned me to join in so I did. After a while, I said "I doubt you have little to teach me," and he replied, "Oh, how is that?" "I already have substantial power. Watch this!" With that proclamation, I took an apple and ripped it in half so that the seeds fell to the ground. Then I squeezed it to until most of the juice dripped on the seeds, then I buried the remainder with the seeds. By this time a dozen people gathered around to see what was going on. I held my hands up and concentrated. "Come on, baby," I coaxed. "You can do it! Come out and play." Slowly a little seedlet broke from the ground where the apple was planted. Like a snake charmer, I wooed the young plant as it swayed back and forth gathering life energy. The devotees clapped and cheered and joined in the encouragement. Within a short time it had become a sapling." Instead of feeling drained from the effort, I felt exhilarated. Playfully boastful, but not really feeling ego-bound, I then asked, "Now what was it you were going to teach me?" Interpretations?

What happenned after that and/or before that, or was it the entire dream?

The dream is of course about sex. The seeds are your sperm, the plant is either your penis or your son, it's hard to tell. The cheering devotees are obviously your parents or your girlfriend's parents.

I sort of get the impression that the guru was your mother, as well. Peace.

Guru = "enlightened" person who claims to have the true path to spiritual growth, enlightenment, etc. Apple growing from seeds and then sprouting = your spirituality/spiritual "validity" You = yourself It's kinda like a confrontation here on the boards, where someone who claims to be "enlightened" tries to come off as having the "true" path to enlightenment. In your dreams, you perform your own "miracle," to demonstrate that the path that the guru claimed to be the true path is not the only/true path. Of course you felt exhilirated, you just did something of a spiritual nature, you got the seed to sprout and grow. I think that the main point is not that you did a "spritual" thing or a "miracle," but that you demonstrated to yourself/others that following organized religion/the guru is not the "only" or "true" way to enlightenment. Make sense?

You = yourself
That part had me puzzled, but you have cleared that up for me. Thanks!

Or maybe the meaning is that a true natural wonder is much more impressive than the words of some guru. And demonstrating it doesn't even make you sweat.

Maybe you possess more enlightened characteristics in your own mind than you seem to see in those around you. Maybe you possess more down to eartth traits, and feel closer to the ground than some people. I dont know. Maybe you decide what it means.

The original apple was green, but I quit channeling energy long before the new tree was about to fruit. Is there some significance?
Should I have used the enlightometer on the alleged guru?

Yeah, if you have the chance break out the old enlightometer to check this guru out. Take a nap this afternoon and tell us if it works

Don't forget to mention my name when you get the new Enlightometer to check the guru out.. I need that fucking picture of Ram Dass, damn it! I'll let you look at it, if you want... Peace.

my interpretation:
you secretly want to be a guru, talking to plants and performing miracles and getting all the chicks
but gurus can't teach you anything you can't learn by watching a tree grow
also you had some genetically modified "magic" apple seeds.. because all gurus are delusional tricksters and you had to show them you had more power
but you are powerless without "the crowd" and you also want to be a snakecharmer for mysterious reasons. and there are many paranormal events in your life. and you fear the day you'll stop dreaming
that's it for now. I'll spare you the Freudian interpretation...

Maybe the apple was a subconscious representation of the origional sin, ie- separation from god via the logical mind.

cool dream. i never attach any significance to dreams or try to 'interpret' them in any way. dreams are dreams, and that is all. they mean nothing except that your brain likes to keep itself entertained. last night i had a dream about painting a bookshelf. it turned out really nice, too... i wish the dream could've been for real.

You should try to paint a bookshelf like you did in the dream.

Did you have to get out the turpentine and clean up in the morning? Next time use your wizardly powers like Mickey Mouse in "Fantasia" and have the brushes do all the work themselves.

You feel threatened by other spiritual ideas. The guru was an alternate spiritual path, but you are set in your ways,....so you tried to show a demonstration of your own, missing the true lesson. In your arrogance you feel exhilerated and enlightened at your own ability, and....having not heard the gurus words you wake up prematurely with a feeling of confusion and disatisfaction.

How did he miss the true lesson? He performed his own "miracle" by effectively making the sapling grow.

Maybe you just don't understand his own sense of self/spirituality, isn't that a bit judgemental to say that his exhuberance and joy at what you call the enlightenment (which he never claimed to have, btw) from his ability is a result of his own arrogance? Don't you feel happy/joyful/etc when you do your spiritual thing and have a sense of enlightenment?

Maybe the exhilaration is a result of him 'getting in touch' (for lack of a better term) with his spirituality/what have you - evidenced by getting the plant to grow the way it did - and not out of a sense of pride because he got it to grow.
