Spores on poo

so will spores germinate on poo? since i havent found a tek on this site that usees spores directly on poo, i would guess not. but does aanyone know why? It seems to me that in there natural life cycle they have to germinate in poo right? why is this different?

oh, well i was actually asking b/c im trying to use pastuerized poo in place of agar to isolate a pure strain in a petri dish. The main reason i want to do this is that poo doesn't need as sterile condition, and i have no glovebox or hood. if the spore will germinate, this should work right?

I believe spores usually germinate in the cow's stomach. Good luck trying to replicate these conditions on a petri dish.

yes dont think it will work there, like mentioned most spores germinate in the cow/horses stomach, not in the poo.

i have read that spores do not germinate easily on manure, so i haven't tried .
but mycelium rips through it .
i would suggest, germinating on some other medium, such as cardboard .
then transfer to sterilized manure, with a little h2o2 . 
you may have a new tec here  . :laugh:
