I think thats probably because alot of the people in OTD are immature idiots. Most halfway serious tripper's or old people like floyd...basically anyone who isnt a highschool jock/idiot/leadership girl/etc i think.

I like the pre roger waters stuff.

There wasnt any pre waters stuff? There was pre Gilmour stuff...There is a lot of people who think that Sid is the allmighty Pink man but Sid knew David better than the rest when Floyd started...thats why David was the only one considered when Sid was checking out on the band...Gilmour isnt a johnny come lately man like most think...Davids dad put it best years ago when he said that he knew David was a special gifted child so he just backed him when he was just 10 yrs old...Bear in mind that Davids ole man was a war monging man who was highly decorated with parliment back when wwII was in fulll swing..Rogers daddy died in the war therefore you can see why Roger had a totall disliking toward David leading to to a disregard to their friendship...not to mention Davids superiority with any musicability...David`s been kickin ass on all the major guitar players fer years an he is still alive and kicking unlike Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughn....

Yeah, i have no idea what you just said pretty much...i dont know who david or gilmour or any of the others are...just syd barret and roger water's. The syd barret stuff was much more experimental, and the roger water's fronted stuff was much more commercial...i find.

I gained a huge appreciation for floyd after i heard the original album's with Syd fronting.

i think i have almost every pink floyd album. my favorite is animals and maybe pulse.

dogs made me feel really sad the first time i heard it. everyone thinks its a happy song tho.

Animals is so different from the rest...It`s reall basic like animals are ...I go thru different stages with Animals and its best when high dosing. Listen to Run like hell {Meddle} and remember that David was ripping that shit up way before Darkside {Pedal steele} ...there isnt anybody better with a stringed instrument than David GilmourNobody at all

People who don't like Floyd probably haven't sat down and listened to them.

I just bought my 4th copy of DSOTM 'cos people never give it back when I lend it to them. :frown:

The new DSOTM SACD in 5.1 Surround is an audio treat.

Mind you if you have Pulse, you pretty much don't need DSOTM.

My favourite 3 tracks are:

Brain Damage
Time
Comfortably Numb

Oh, and DG is God. :wink:

I never much cared for Pink Floyd till i read an article in Rolling Stone an they had a poll on the top 10 lead guitar solos on songs and David Gilmour had the top three starting with Comfortably Numb,Time and Run Like hell ...that made me think so i just pulled them out of my collection and really listen to them...Run like hell is kinda unfair cause i really dont know of any of the greats that could/would rip the shit outta a stringed instrument {pedal steele}like Gilmour was doing back in 1971...that song gives me goosebumps when i listen to it...he punches a hole in the stratosphere with that solo  :laugh:

When I was in high school ('81 to '84) the two bands that were universally liked was Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, everyone could name at least a couple of their songs that they liked. I remember buying The Wall when it first came out, it was a big event at the time and every single friend of mine bought that album on the same day. Whenever someone says something negative about Pink Floyd in general I feel a bit of culture shock, I can't see where they're coming from.

I love all Floyd albums, even The Division Bell which is often slagged unfairly. Gilmour is such a fantastic guitar player, check out Marooned, that's one of the best guitar instrumentals I've ever heard, there is so much emotion in his playing.

Floyd is definately one of the best bands of all time. I love pigs... gawd I love that song... it kicks ass!!! I love brain damage and money and run like hell... I love floyd mang! Really, one night when I was fucked up on something... I started to think about what life would be like had pink floyd never existed... I almost cried :frown:

hell yes, the wall is my favortie movie AND album...not many bands can hold that title...but any floyd is great in my book! Saucerful of Secrets and Meddle are definitely the best tripping albums...very spacey...great stuff!

I don't think i've ever heard someone from The Shroomery say they didn't like Pink Floyd.

Have you heard Wesley Willis's song "Pink Floyd"? It's good.
