Parents Told Me That I Have Asperger's
    #17777146 -

What the fuck man.
Parents broke it to me, when we were fighting.
It was the most fucked up thing they could do, the ultimate "fuck you" if you will.

Yea I have Aspergers.
Symptoms fit perfectly, and it explains everything.
My OCD and insane interests / obsessions, depression, social anxiety, no friends, lack of caring about people, logical and scientific thinking and obsession.

The "speech therapy" I had as a child was for aspergers.

Not sure what to do now.

Chill, bro.  If you're social enough to even post on a forum, then you're probably OK.

I always thought Aspergers people are more well adapted for REAL life than 80% of the people in this ridiculous, artificial and poorly designed society.  They bluntness and impoliteness of "autistic" people makes them feel uncomfortable and anxious.  (they expect you to pretend to care about bullshit and pretend to act or be insincere like them). So they label it a disorder to fit you into their warped world-view.

People expect you to want to make money, not question authority, and enjoy the jersey shore and MTV without thinking a day in your life.

Just...try and make a friend or two....you can learn a lot from other people.

Yeah man. I teach in special education. You are obviously very very high functioning for being on e spectrum. Im confused as to how this is news to you? If you only required speech services then you are absolutely fine. Just be ause a doctor threw out the possibility that you may have aspergers syndrome, he may even have diagnosed you. If it didn't affect your life enough so that all you received were speech services, why bring it up and give you more anxiety about having a condition. If it affected you minimally, why dwell on it.

Did you have social skills classes and sensory training? If you only qualified for speech you are perfectly normal with enhanced sensitivities that we all have. If these symptoms have worsened as An adult, go and see someone and be treated for it.

The only reason I am speaking so absolutely is I work exclusively with people on the autism disorder spectrum. From very acute, like you, to very sever, non verbal and wild as hell.

Weird, that's exactly what I'd say happened to me last year. You're not the only one.
At first I thought was something I'd have to treat so I'd act normal. It took me awhile, but I realized nothing is really different than it was the rest of my life. And really all I found out by knowing was that there's other people going through the same thing.
I like to think of aspergers as a strain of human. It's not a negative or positive, it just is. Some things are going to be easier or harder for us than NTs.
As a warning, don't take psychedelics and weed lightly. These substances lower the threshold for paranoia and breakdowns. It really depends on you though, some can handle just as well as NTs and others quite the opposite.
I use weed, kava, lemon balm for insomnia and stressful situations. Kava: There's a kava bar in Portland that sells online. Doesn't cause paranoia like weed.
Lemon balm: grows as a weed were I live. It's only good when it's fresh, anything else will be significantly weaker or complete bunk.
:goodluck:

It started around age 2 or 3 I had to see a specialist, then later on at my school I had some training as well. I also remember some other training thing I had to do, not sure if it was sensory training or not. I don't want to imprint any false things that happened, but I remembered that much. My childhood like everyone else is fuzzy at best.

I was told I was a special case, that the treatment worked so well. The therapist even wrote about my treatment and had to ask my parents and get them to sign a release.
I am not sure if it was a case study or not, or what ever it was.
I am trying to track it down.
It is more then likely not that important.

Well I have had trouble socially, almost got fired for sexual harassment (I did not do anything).
Had trouble with women, but that seams to be the norm (I am good looking, so I am not a virgin).
Raging depression seams to be a problem as well.

Have any tips on treating the side effects? They really fuck with my academic life (Depression does).
I already belong to a few clubs, and I am becoming more social.

It sounds like you are doing remarkably great! Your story gives me hope for the people I work with. They will never be able to have jobs like you have obtained. You need to lookinto your diagnosis and then go through the adult with disability  act. Your work will have to bend over backwards and you will NEVER  have to worry about being fired again. The act is the a.d.a . It willrotect you for any discrimination you may encounter. Look into it get the documentation and find out all accommodations owed to you at work and in your private life. Get a disabled parking pass. Go get on social security. You can work and still get what you deserve as far as free health care.

:whatwhatwhat:

He says he feels depressed, not disabled. Also, I have an issue with your suggestions of getting on disability if there is no actual need for it. In fact, I know individuals with Asperger's and, even though not every case is the same, they are not on disability, have found a social support system,  have graduated college, and gotten jobs. OP really doesn't sound disabled, sounds like he is doing relatively fine, just got hit with a curveball and is unsure how to react. I'm going to assume he is on parents' insurance, and can see a doctor on their plan if he feels the need to.

Anyway, exercise is one of the most under-utilized forms of an anti-depressant (3-5 days a week), and when you factor it in with eating healthy and getting a grip on your worldview, then it does wonders for self-esteem. Don't think it's something you can only do for a little while and then quit - it's a lifestyle for good health.

Exercise is good. He said his interactions with people at work were causing repercussions unjustly due to his disability. Anything on the autism spectrum, no matter how minor, is a disability.
