I used to play WoW 4 years ago or so.

I raided the hardest during The Burning Crusade era, aka level 70.

I played 80 a bit, too, but when it came to 85 I felt like they were rushing the expansions too much and not allowing adequate time to get gear.

I've thought about playing it again... maybe in a few years.

I was an undead priest mainly specializing in shadow.  I do enjoy healing on discipline, too, though.

Its hard for me to get started again.. the end game is just soooooo drawn out and it takes FOREVER.

I spent literally months in the dungeon queue for end game, still never got everythign I needed.

running around the city changing mounts and jumping off buildings waiting for the queue gets old FAST.

im planning on focusing pvp...maybe some casual endgame dungeons.  i just can't be arsed to care about it enough to get worked up over every little piece of gear...my number 1 goal is to actually have fun you know?

i know what you mean man.. only problem for me in that plan is I did that.  I got all the best PvP gear sets and shit with the pvp points.. I did it so much that I had to switch to end game or quit. Hahaha

edit - I never got past lvl 83, i hate grinding.

PvP is way more fun then end game though. i love the battle grounds

Diablo 3 was supposed to steal my heart and ride away with it into the sunset, but it let me down :sad:

Game got severely depleted of spontaneous fun when they introduced the ability to just queue up anywhere without physically going to the location... Battlegrounds included... World PvP used to be so much fun in Vanilla WoW, even when they just released BGs you had to physically go to ashevale... leading to a lot of curious interactions (and a lot of noobs getting ganked..) ... City Raids? Solo ganking? Boat/Zep ganks? Nawww, too much fun! Blizz doesn't want that, gogo level ?? triple elite knockback stealth detect 200% movement speed guards!

i dont mind all that, the game is much more streamlined now, it would suck if leveling was still like it was at level 60 (and those were the glory days dont get me wrong)

literally 1/3rd of the whole year was in my /played... kind of absurd.

WoW was an amazing game until you got used to the repetivity.  The best part about wow is in the in-game friends you make, and the awesome times on Vent with said wow buddies.

I'm at least partially behind you too, I don't see the point of spending money continuously on the same game. I used to spend a lot of money on one game too and then one day I realized that I could have used that money to buy 10 separate video games, all more enjoyable then the one I blew it all on.

Say goodbye to your life... Again...

I lost a good five years of my life to WoW.  Had 5 lvl 80s on horde.  Main was a Tauren resto druid.  Second two in all epic were a tauren prot warrior and an undead mutilate rogue.  Then an 80 undead shadow priest and an 80 enhancement shaman in mostly blues. 

Taurens will always be my favorite.  Mulgore was a wonderful place, and I would routinely go there just to hang out.  Fuck all the other places, I loveddd Thunder Bluff.

Though I miss it, I'm glad I got out.  I wasted thousands of hours on that shit.  Really got my life together with all the free time I had when I quit.  Quit WoW about a month after I found the shroomery. :lol:

Yeah me too, there's always a way to improve your character and once you start trying to optimize your character you'll do the same dungeon 30+ times for one piece of gear :crankey:

Sometimes I have nostalgia moments with wow and ill renew my account.  Then Ill quit again after a week of playing rarely, its not the same without in game friends.  I actually still talk to a few of my wow friends via fb.


Was anyone ever into Twink's?  I actually had quite a few in several different brackets

Starting out on a brand new server made things a lot more fun too, no high levels to randomly gank you - everyone leveling up in the same areas, tons of spontaneous little battles... Its too bad blizz put a hatchet in world PvP

lol, yep.  I also have a few old guildies on my facebook.  The two leaders of my guild actually met up and got married eventually.  To this day, they still ask me to come to their state and meet their kids. 

I didn't much get into raiding after Kara.  When I played Vanilla, it was so new and exciting that I didn't care spending 10 hours of my day on it.  Then in BC, it was nice that I could main tank on my warrior.  It was a good feeling to be the best of the best in there.  Plus you could finish a raid in about 8 hours over the course of 2 days.  So manageable.  Plus with only 10 people, you're not waiting and waiting.  I think heroics in wrath really helped keep that Kara feeling alive, but I never got into the raids.  5 hours to down the first boss in Nax, and not even get a drop?  Fuuuuckkk that.  I only had 2 mains up until BC- my rogue and my warrior.  But when it came to raiding in wrath, I just couldn't do it so I leveled up and heroic-geared a bunch more.  The Druid eventually became my favorite and most geared.

Fuck I remember how much fun Vanilla Alterac Valley was with my high warlord geared arms warrior.  I queued with one other high warlord arms warrior, and the two of us held off their entire rush for Captain Galv all the way to the win.  Or if I felt like going prot, I could tank van.  In fact, I think I even tanked Van as arms successfully.  Just switched to a shield and 1h.

Damn you were a High Warlord?  I know on my server getting HW was almost a full time job

lol, I never actually got high warlord the old fashion way.  But right before they launched BC, they introduced honor rather than ranking.  I got the whole high warlord set in the first day, and played a good 2 months ahead of everyone until they finally started getting theirs.  But by that time, BC was out and I was leveling anyway.  I got to experience the joy of being in High Warlord with a level 60 cap for only a month or two, but it was fucking glorious.

Vanilla WoW was the best, they ruined it with the expansions. I had to quit before WoTLK came out...it just got so boring

I did used to be an undead mage on Kalecgos named chopstick though. Good times were had.

Fucking world of warcraft. That game completely killed the whole MMO genre for me. I played from the first day it came out until about a month after BC came out.

Its just the same old shit rehashed over and over. Quest - go here collect this -kill that x amount of times - deliver this -go to a dungeon and do the same thing in a group.

It was fun while it lasted. really fucking fun. I literally spent every moment of free time i had playing. Well over six months of playtime.

Then i got tired of it. I cant play any type of MMO game anymore, and this game is the reason why. Im completely burned out of this type of games formula.

I was much more interested in the story line and RPing.  Gave the game a lot more depth, that you didn't notice you were grinding.  I was introduced to Warcraft Orcs and Humans 18 years ago, when I was six.  Used to watch my best friend's dad play it all day. :lol:  I was playing Tides of Darkness by the time I was 8.  Guess that's why the story captured me so well.  I didn't have harry potter or lord of the rings to introduce me to the fantasy world, it's always been warcraft.

The story is great, yeah. I played Warcraft 1 also, and WC 3. The WoW story is more background but its still really cool...I can't wait to actually meet people on my server though, thats when it really gets fun.

yeah... all the WOW kiddies are kind of an inside joke to us fogies who have been around since Ultima online and Everquest etc.

The first MMORPGs i played were actually text based and ran off a dial up BBS  :smile:

I enjoyed mmorpgs like Ragnarok Online so I thought this game would be a perfect fit for me before it came out.

I even played the original warcraft games so I was getting hyped on the plot and what not.

Got really burned out on the whole mmorpg genre.

then it came out and I never bought it.

the end I just felt like sharing.

I miss the flying mounts.  It was fun to just fly around and check out the scenery.  Being an undead shadow priest was so awesome because when you were on your mount your mount would also turn to a shadow (if you were in shadowform, duh you noob).

My friends and I used to have WoW parties where like 5 of us would meet up in the same room and just raid with our guild.  Epic.

Karazhan was my favorite dungeon, I think.  Downing the Maid of Virtue was so satisfying.

I played WoW mostly during the level 70 days and 80 days.

I was on a RPPVP server (I think), Steamwheedle Cartel.

Played in beta through Vanilla to WoTLK.. had great times.
Was hardcore raider/PvPer, opened the AQ gates, cleared Naxx @ 60, cleared BT/Sunwell world 10th or so.
Sold toon right before WoTLK for 5k USD. (Dual warglaive full T6 rogue)
Leveled up again and just couldn't get back into it. Every xpac after TBC the game just got worse and worse.
I gave it several chances. I quit after WoTLK and came back and played casually. People kept trying to suck me back.
Got sucked back for Cataclysm and it pretty much sucked ballz and haven't played since.
People keep trying to suck me back oh brroo pandas and shit. Game is dead to me. Was fun while it lasted though.

i played it all day today...you get burned out on it quicker than i remember heheh..

I played vanilla through BC doing progression content.
Now I resubscribe for a month or two every year and play casually.
WOTLK and Catacylsm were pretty crappy expansions, but Mists of Pandaria is actually pretty fun for me.
May or may not stick around, but I'm liking it again.

I never got into WOW thank goodness because these games have a way of taking over my life..

BUT... I was seriously into everquest, up until about 6 months after the Lunar expansion came out. ..

I was extremely into buying and trading and making money in game, and I used to sell items on player auctions... Stuff like the fungus coat and turtle shield etc...
I made over $1000 U.S. selling IN GAME ITEMS( and platinum) it was insane.

But if I had a real job for the time I played, that $1000 could have been 10....
But I really did enjoy it, it was so much fun, especially when the PVP server Sullen Zek Came out.

Usto play WoW and Runescape, fun times, spent many a hours on both. Can't imagine playing now though. I know to much to be spending my life on that stuff. Become a wizard irl :thumbup:

yeah, a voxel-based rpg thats in development.  its online, not an mmo but will feature cooperative play.  you make a house and stuff.  its already got forums that are really active.
