No idea what the 75th trimester is either.
The name trimester is implicative of only three.
And there's only about 38 weeks in a regular pregnancy.

Lets see there are three trimesters in a pregnancy and it lasts 9 months so there are 4 trimesters in a year.  That would put 75 trimesters to be the age of 18.  As you may have noticed that is the arbitrarily chosen age at which people are granted pretty much full rights.

There are actually only 36 weeks to a full term pregnancy. NOT a full nine months...

That is the problem with our society, labels.
Liberal, conservative, black, white, rich, poor...
We are all Bi-Pedal Mamals with a limited understanding of our "experiences".
Discussion is healthy, but we have gone FAR beyond that.  Prying into one another's opinions and slapping a label on it.  The point, again IMO is that OP and said female need to discuss this as adults and own their decision.  I think everyone can agree with that.  I am amazed at how we are rude when compassion in it's place would yield healthier results all around.
Just a thought.

You're hilarious.  I completely disagree with your point of view.  There are absolutely no layers of obfuscation on the issue in my mind, and I don't consider myself a murderer or a coward.  I consider myself an extremely rational and ambitious person that would feel terrible knowing I could not give a child the life it deserved to have if I wasn't ready.

I'm not the one calling names.. No one is advocating abdication of personal responsibility and to argue otherwise is dishonest. Also I am a liberal because I advocate critical rational thinking instead of emotionally charged outbursts?

ORLY?  I am deeply conservative.  Would you like to go rational with me, missy?  Let's start with this postulate.  "Rewarding failure increases the incidence of failure".  Because I can cram a whole shit load of science up that flue.

Huh? He was the one who called me a liberal because I told him he should learn to think critically and rationally instead of emotionally about subjects such as these.. I don't identify as liberal or conservative - besides I am from Canada. I fail to see what my political views have to do with anything though.

Sorry, from a scientific and legal perspective it isn't a human being so stop calling a fetus that.
Your argument that those who argue for the choice of abortion were not aborted is filled with logical fallacies and is quite laughable.

how can the view of a human life be measured strictly as rational/scientific and not also emotional/spiritual.

scientifically you can kill anything. Emotionally a loved ones death is hard to live through. I couldn't care less if people have abortions, however, I seriously question the morals of someone who performs one. The choice is yours ultimately. I don't think Paul Ryan was against abortion btw I think he was against planned parent hood which is government abortion. Own it.  You are what you say and what you do is not something you can wash down the drain while you go on with your life.  There is a lot more there for adults to deal with and murder is murder.  If you insist on being scientific the term for it is homicide.

The scientific perspective would be to be responsible and choose a form of birth control that doesn't include murdering a defenseless child.  That is what is laughable.  Your casual denial notwithstanding, the scientific thing includes a review of the facts.  Fact: you chose to be irresponsible with your reproductive decisions and now you want to be absolved of being responsible like so many other dirtbags who preceded you.

Own it.  You are what you say and what you do is not something you can wash down the drain while you go on with your life.  There is a lot more there for adults to deal with and murder is murder.  If you insist on being scientific the term for it is homicide.

You might want to brush up on your scientific knowledge... Also there is no point in arguing with you if you refuse to call it what it is and what is the accepted term for it, a fetus, and instead use emotionally charged words. I know in many cases it is easy to let our emotions get in the way of rationality but it is a good skill to be able to separate the two and be able to deploy critical thinking skills when required.

Also cute phrases like "you are what you say and what you do is not something you can wash down the drain while you go on with your life" is meaningless. Insulting people shows nothing more than immaturity. Murder is clearly and legally defined. You might want to read up on the definition of murder, read up on Roe vs. Wade (as I assume you are in the US), and read up what the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has to say about abortion.

No matter what you call it "fetus, baby, infant, child" It is still a living human being. Like I said before most women do not find out they are pregnant before 8 weeks, and by 8 weeks you can see AND hear the heartbeat.

I think "owning it" sometimes means accepting that you are not physically, mentally, emotionally, or financially stable enough to bring a child into this world.  How irresponsible is that?!  Well I made a mistake, and even though I've only been with this woman for 6 months, I'm going to bring a child into the world with her because that's "owning" my mistake.  A child is not something to be "owned".  A child is a magical little perfect being that needs to be cared for, loved, and nurtured by two loving parents and a supportive community of family and friends surrounding them.

You know what my first memories are?  My parents fighting and getting divorced.  That reminds me, btw, what are your memories of the womb?  Do you remember anything from before you were old enough to speak, for that matter?  Didn't think so.

:kingtard:

OP you do whatever you and your girlfriend feels right and if you need any sane advice about pregnancy termination, feel free to :pm: me as I have been through it.  There will probably be people like BooBooKittyFuck and mpd outside the clinic holding signs and trying to convince you not to do it, for example, and you just have to keep your head held high and ignore them.

I like how you judge people. You do not know me. I do not think it's right to kill a living human being no matter your excuses or reasoning behind it. You claim that because people do not remember anything from the womb that is reasoning for killing a baby? Do you remember anything from infancy or even toddler? Oh, you dont? So it would have been ok to smother you then? I think not.
Funny cause I could make a few judgments in here my self but I don't. I would never go hold up signs at any place for any reason. If this person had a genuine reason for not wanting to keep this baby then I could see their point. But his girl already has a kid and they are raising it just fine apparently, so what's the big excuse for not having this one?
What because it puts a cramp in their situation or because they may not have extra money to spend on themselves or whatnot? So instead people use the whole "I wouldn't be able to give this child the home it deserves" I could understand that statement as well IF you were lets see, homeless,on welfare, no job, addicted to drugs, etc.

BooBoo, you're claiming that you're not passing judgement but every post I've seen from you in this thread has been incredibly judgemental, short sighted and bitchy.

A fetus is not a human being. If a fetus were a human being abortion would be illegal and miscarriages would also be illegal. Would you think it's immoral for a woman's body to miscarry? No rational or sane person would condemn someone for a biological process that cannot control. Why is the choice to remove the fetus immoral, then? If the collective cells in your body can determine that a series of steps will be taken to terminate a pregnancy why is it that when you're in conscious control of that decision it suddenly has moral implications?

The OP's woman has another child to take care of. If their finances are already stretched adding another child into the mix means that both children will suffer especially since mom wont be able to hold a job while caring for a newborn. Just because someone else's reasoning doesn't fit your judgement of what a "genuine" reason for abortion is doesn't mean that their logic isn't sound and valid. You don't know the whole situation but you're trying to make judgement calls that are not yours to make.

I've not judged anyone by stating that I think it is wrong. And you cannot convince me by any means you want that a "fetus" is not a living human when its heart is beating and it has brain activity. To miscarry is not a choice, it happens no one can help that.
Sure if they were lucky enough to find out extremly early in the pregnancy and had it flushed out then by all means have at it, at that stage it IS just a fertilized egg. If people are really this dead set against having children carry the stinkin morning after pill around so when you have an oopsie them you can fix it before finding out 2 months later your preggo and have to kill your baby.
And sorry if I seem bitchy, I come across that way I guess. I don't mean to, I just do, IRL as well

I also think it's not right to kill a living human being no matter the excuses or reasoning behind it.

The difference is you consider a fetus to be a living, breathing human being, even though it is scientifically and legally NOT.

Also I am not judging you, so there's no need to be defensive.  I didn't say YOU hold up signs, I said people like you, like people who have the same opinions.  And, yet, the first opportunity you had in this thread you posted a gratuitous story likening abortion to murdering a 2 year old child in cold blood, in an attempt to make the OP feel guilty and ashamed.  These are the exact tactics they use as you're walking into the clinic.

Women and their partners have the right to choose what they want to do with regards to pregnancy in this country and they should be able to do so without being bullied and harassed by people who don't agree.
