Having a abortion is "taking responsibility", and there is nothing easy about it. What is disgusting are people that have children that they can not afford, why should that be considered more responsible behavior?

You're not offing anything.  A clump of cells, even if they can sort of "feel" isn't a person.

You say not owning up to it - I say the opposite.  They're owning up to knowing they are not ready to give a child the attention it deserves, for whatever reason.

Doctors used to be told in med school before abortion became controversial that when they were seeing a pregnant woman, they were seeing two patients.

I go by history as you can clearly see.

In fact, it was always believed a child could feel while in the womb until the issue got blown up.

People used to believe the world was flat too.  What's your point?

QFT.

Fact, most people who are pro abortion have already had it done. That's why they are for it so they don't have to feel guilty about the child they helped kill.

Fact?  How about you back up for 'fact' with some studies and statistics.

It's called adoption. Many people out there would love to have that baby but cannot. But no, they claim oh I couldn't handle carrying a child for 9 months and then just giving it up. Well they should have thought about that before they decided to have sex and for whatever reason ended up pregnant. Some people say that the woman should not be made to carry a baby for that long who never wanted to have one, well I say otherwise, that is her having to deal with what she created. When you knowingly spread your legs you better be able to take proper actions to either prevent pregnancy or be prepared to have a youngin!

This is a terrible mentality.  The world is already horribly overpopulated, and there's already TONS of kids out there who DON'T get adopted.  Why would you add to the pool of kids who get to live in an orphanage and have a shitty life, and often end up turning to drugs and crime.  That is the last thing the world needs.

Adoption isn't a panacea.. Take a look at the orphanages around you...

Kudos!
To all of you who keep talking about orphans google it.  There are 10s of thousands of couples waiting to accept a newborn.  Orphans are generally toddlers and up who are either removed from a home or dumped off, not newborns.  Your argument is invalid :themoreyouknow:

You should probably do some research into adoptions... What you find might surprise you.
Also what do you think happens to a kid who doesn't get adopted? There is a reason orphanages exist.
There may be many couples on a waiting list but they all have specific requests. I think you and anyone here advocating adoption as a panacea should do more research into the adoption process.

I am VERY familiar with the adoption process.  I have had two close friends give children up for adoption.  They both recieved at least twenty profiles of couples willing to take the child.  One of them even had all of her health care, food and maternity clothes paid for.
I do not wish to argue what I KNOW to be fact.  You obviously have a computer I feel you should do some research.  Why do you think Americans adopt children from overseas?
Because there is a shortage of adoptable newborns in the USA.  I've said my piece and shall agree to disagree with you friend.  I would encourage you to put some time into researching real numbers.  Given there will always be the idiots who just keep poppin out units like rabbits.  But anyone wanting to give a child up for adoption can easily get it done with a few simple phone calls.
Fact :-)
Blessings
To the OP, I wish you the best man, tough choices.
Done here

Your ad hominem does not back up your argument.  I have not made any completely wild (and unprovable) claims such as "all people who support abortion have had one".  That is just utter nonsense.

I got my wife pregnant before we were married and we were really young and broke. We aborted the pregnancy because we felt like we wouldn't have been able to care for the baby properly and carrying the baby for 9 months and having to give it up for adoption afterwards wasn't a path my wife wanted to take...

Fast forward 17 years and I now have 3 beautiful, planned children. Now that I have had kids I regret making the decision we made back then and I will forever wonder what my first child would have been like. Sure, we would have had some rough years and it would have been a challenge, but I think we could have got through it. That event will probably haunt me forever.

Think this shit over hard before you make your decision. Once it's done, it's done.

This is disturbing to me. Why a newborn only? There are many thousands of 2+ year old kids that need families too. I think this is more greedy selfish "americans" just wanting their cake and eating it too. And genes play a role on how a person will be. Think about what the parents mental stability is like and you have a pretty good idea on how the person will turn out. Not always, but it does factor in. If you breed 2 idiot people chances are you will get an idiot person.

Seriously?  You actually even think about it at all?  You now have 3 beautiful kids.  Effectively, your first born child is who your first born child would have been.  There is no child until there is a child.  That is like saying in a game of poker "damn, I wish I hadn't burned that unknown card of the top of the deck, that could have been the Ace I needed for my royal flush".

You people act like it's nothing to kill a baby, fact is abortion does not happen while it is still just an egg. MOST women don't even find out that they are pregnant until they are 7-8 weeks along. By then there IS a heartbeat which means yes it IS a living human being. And don't tell me their heart isn't beating at 7-8 weeks because it is, I seen it myself on the ultrasound. NTM not everyone has an abortion at an early stage of pregnancy either. Here in the US it is legal all the way up to 24 weeks gestation. By then the baby is fully formed except lungs still need a bit more time, but there have been babies born at 22 weeks who survive just fine. So, that isn't murder? I call bullshit!
Maybe you should look up some of the way they abort these helpless infants.

i think adoption is an admirable act, either putting up or taking in, but i don't think it's fair to vilify people who don't choose that option. indeed, there are women out there that use abortion as their sole means of birth control, but i would surmise that people like that are in the vast, vast minority and people who generally get abortions are making what they see to be the best call for all parties involved.

it's a difference of opinion. i vacillate on the topic myself, but the bottom line for me is that people shouldn't be forced to have a pregnancy or a child that they don't want, for whatever reason. up until that baby's born i think it's up to the parents to decide if they want it or not. within reason of course. i don't support late term unless the mother's life is in danger.

i've been following this thread and biting my tongue....A LOT....i don't have much time to post right now but i will say i had an abortion 5 1/2 years ago, and feel with every fiber of my being that I made the right decision.

we procreate so mindlessly as human beings.  there are too many people on the planet as it is that we can't take care of.  I wish MORE people who are not in the right place financially, emotionally or relationship-wise would consider abortion.  yes, we should also be way more mindful about birth control, but accidents happen and not every fertilized egg NEEDS to turn into a human being.  removing a clump of cells from ones body is also not murder.

i wish we could all approach this from a more rational/scientific point of view rather than emotional/spiritual.
