Quote:
In 2003, the European Union enacted legislation that set the maximum values for tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide in cigarettes to levels much lower than those found in the United States. Cigarettes can contain no more than 10 mg of tar, 1 mg of nicotine, and 10 mg of carbon monoxide. This legislation also banned the use of the terms "full flavour", "mild", "light", and "ultra-light" in relation to tobacco products. Proponents believed the terms misled consumers about the dangers of cigarettes using such labels. The same legislation forced producers to prominently feature the warning "smoking kills", in the official language of whatever country they were sold in, on all packs.

Blue (Tar 9 mg / Nicotin 1.0 mg / Carbon Monoxide 10 mg)
Green (Tar 7 mg / Nicotin 0.8 mg / Carbon Monoxide 8 mg)
Yellow (Tar 5 mg / Nicotin 0.6 mg / Carbon Monoxide 6 mg)
Orange (Tar 3 mg / Nicotin 0.4 mg / Carbon Monoxide 4 mg)
Perique (Tar 9 mg / Nicotin 1.0 mg / Carbon Monoxide 10 mg)
Organic (Tar 5 mg / Nicotin 0.6 mg / Carbon Monoxide 7 mg)

It seems like the blue pack and the perique pack have the most tar and carbon monoxide in them.

I just prefer the organics... the blue ones are BS IMO.... Routinely I will be out of smokes and someone will offer me a camel or otherwise at a party and I will pass. Those mainstream cigs make me gag and want to puke.. I'll take my tobacco the same way I like to grow it in my garden, organic and pure...

I wonder why tobacco would have lead and polonium in it while other edible plants like tomatos don't. I mean, if it's grown in good soil, why would it accumulate lead and polonium when other plants don't?

Some time it  falls in the rain tobacco is the leaves tomatos and whatever is the actual fruit If you were to smoke a bunch of tomato leaves you would probably get close to the same exposure. Why do you think we have pcb warnings on fish from ponds rivers and lakes that have never seen any kind of factory?

The source I provided also covers that:

Quote:
How does radioactive material get into a cigarette?

The tobacco leaves used in making cigarettes contain radioactive material, particularly lead-210 and polonium-210. The radionuclide content of tobacco leaves depends heavily on soil conditions and fertilizer use.

Soils that contain elevated radium lead to high radon gas emanations rising into the growing tobacco crop. Radon rapidly decays into a series of solid, highly radioactive metals (radon decay products). These metals cling to dust particles which in turn are collected by the sticky tobacco leaves. The sticky compound that seeps from the trichomes is not water soluble, so the particles do not wash off in the rain. There they stay, through curing process, cutting, and manufacture into cigarettes.Lead-210 and Polonium-210 can be absorbed into tobacco leaves directly from the soil. But more importantly, fine, sticky hairs (called trichomes) on both sides of tobacco leaves grab airborne radioactive particles.

For example, phosphate fertilizers, favored by the tobacco industry, contain radium and its decay products (including lead-210 and polonium-210). When phosphate fertilizer is spread on tobacco fields year after year, the concentration of lead-210 and polonium-210 in the soil rises.
src

One thing that is important here is that organic=/=healthy.  Radon gas is "organic".  Tobacco leaves are sticky while growing and collect radioactive isotopes from the air which are believed to contribute to cancer in both smoked and smokeless tobacco.

It seems that chemical fertilizers will have higher levels of pol/lead210 available to the root systems, but it would be a mistake to jump to conclusions based on this.  Since these isotopes exist as a gas it doesn't matter how water soluble the fertilizer is as radioactive isotopes aren't absorbed through the roots at comparable levels.  Radon exists in all soils, pol/lead210 is in all tobacco leaves.  It seems likely that where the tobacco is grown is as important as the type of fertilizers used.

Quote:
The source of tobacco’s polonium is all natural. It’s a decay product of radon that escapes from the ground, especially in regions with a lot of bedrock close to the surface or soil containing uranium-238. (On average, the authors say, the top five feet in each square mile of soil contains some 30 tons of uranium-238.) src

Interestingly, this source claims that a filter which would remove radioactive isotopes is available, but not in use by tobacco companies.

Somewhat trivial, but: water soluble fertilizers can be absorbed through the stomata of many plants.

I roll cigs I find it the best thing for me... not a shit ton of additives and what not. Name brand cigs make me sick, they smoke to fast and have a unnatural taste... Just my opinion, If your looking for nothing but nicotine I'd go for an E-cig I've never used them... :shurg: but if that what your looking for might be worth a shot
