Re: man, got my girlfriend pregnant.... [Re: tyrannicalrex]

I also want to say I am not attacking anyone who is against abortion. I am just saying that from the details given it seems to be the best thing for the 2 of them. I am glad to be here most of the time, and I am going into a field to help people (nurse). I will say that I hope NO ONE has to go through what I did as a kid, and then later the things I put myself through. It can all be avoided.
No one should have to feel guilty about making the decision to have an abortion. Period! This causes problems.

It needs to stop.  :angryguy:

But seriously, if I were in OP's position, I would be all for an abortion.

I've been in the same situation before. The girl decided to have it aborted.
Neither of us have regrets, and we both agree that we did the right thing.

You haven't been with the girl for very long right now, so do you really want to go making life long commitments?
But you know your situation better than we do, so you will know if this girl is someone you could be with the rest of your life.

But she's not even really divorced? What if she starts wanting her husband back?
How is he going to handle all of this? I can only imagine she's going to tell him.

Either way, best of luck to you Anthony. You seem like a good person, so I can only imagine that you will make this work.
Keep your head up and roll with the blows. Eventually you'll see you're opportunity to make things better.
Sometimes it comes sooner than later...

Well I don't see any reason anyone who is willing to have sex knowing what the outcome could always be, no matter the type of birth conrtol used, then they shouldbe able to man the fuck up and take care of their child. That  child didn't ask for it's parents to be so damn immature about things, if your old enough to fuck then you should be mature enough to do the right thing. If not, then you should not be having sex.

your kinda forgetting the part about sex being a basic human need both phsyicaly and emotionally.

Bullshit about sexual "needs".  I hate that fucking word.  Nobody "needs" sex.  That being said there are plenty of sexual activities that provide release that cannot possibly result in pregnancy.  I trust I do not need to list them here.

I have some other things to point out

1.  The man has zero to say about abortion.  Zero, zilch, zip, nada.
2.  Both parents have an obligation to provide for the child, should they have one.
3.  Having a child is the most momentous event in almost everyone's life.  No matter the particulars of the arrangement, it is huge and irrevocable.  You can always get rid of a wife or a husband.  You can never get rid of a child.

I am going to disagree with you on the "murder" point. A group of cells that have not yet formed a sex, brain or any cognitive thoughts is just a group of cells. If you catch it within the first 2-3 weeks. I look at it from a scientific point of view and without any feeling. I see it as a business decision that would benefit them financially.

Facts are that this world evolves around money and when you do not have the funds, it makes it very hard to survive/live,especially with the burden of a child. I am grateful I made the decision I made with the women I made the decision with (all three times).

The guilt your friend is feeling over her abortion may be due to the pressure of negative things she is reading/listening to/or people telling her she should regret it. I know this is a very hot button issue filled with passionate people on both sides. The OP stated that he and his girl can not afford it and their first reaction was to consider abortion. It is much safer these days and seems to be the best decision for them.

I know you are aware that sometimes a women's body tries to kill the invading cells as if they are an infection that is trying to harm the body. It can wreak havoc on some women.

I also know that for people that just can not/will not even consider abortion as a solution there is no winning this argument. The ones against it will NEVER concede and say it might be better. The things you listed as the only good reasons for an abortion are the same things right wing (or left wing) religious nuts say.

Also why do you think the trisomy 21 test was invented? I feel it is to protect people/society from the burden of special needs people. This is a digression and a whole other can of worms though.

If a person lets their emotions rule rational/critical thinking/decisions, it can turn out badly.

I like the balanced argument - especially when you call pro-life people religious nuts.  You didn't show your true colors at all.

100% in favor of abortion rights as written in Roe, which I think was a brilliant piece of legislation.  I will, however, argue viciously with anybody who believes in god and abortion rights.  They are phony fucks with no consistent morals.

Your definition of God probably follows the Christian ideology.
Not all depictions of God are hateful or judging.
I think someone could be a Taoist, Deist, or Pantheist and still support abortion rights.

The word "God" has so much connotation tied to it though that I prefer to just avoid it all together.

So let us use instead the word "soul".  Or "spirit".  Or any other fantasy bullshit you should like to imagine will grant humans an existence other than the directly corporeal.  If you believe in any of that crap abortion is murder.  Capisce?

I fundamentally disagree.
I'm sure our disagreement comes out of mere miscommunication, but simply because you believe in the soul does not mean you are inherently disallowed to support abortion.
I'm a pantheist, I believe in the soul and I think that an abortion is more humane than birthing a child in some instances.

Though it's hard to show people the mystery pervading everything.
It's not something you can understand by intellectualizing.
I don't expect this conversation to change any opinions.

OMG
What is wrong with people?
Do any of you realize how many well suited parents are on lists to receive and love a new baby?
Orphans are from the 1800s.  OMG we wonder why our country is in the position it is.
I am glad I'll be dead and gone before "the millennium kids" come to power.
Instant gratification and no responsibility for actions.
No respect for life experience.  No respect for life in general.
Point and case, I am moving, I need a job when I get there and a close friend owns a few fast food franchises.  His 19 year old daughter REFUSES to "flip burgers".
I told him to sign me up I'll start the day I get there.  That's the difference 20 years makes I guess.
In another thread dude is asking for help growing a plant I have 15  years growing and breeding, have a college degree in horticulture and CEA.  Yet this young man argues me even after asking for help.  I pity the future of our country :-(

More rhetoric, USA has a surplus of orphans. From what I hear about the foster system its pretty shitty. Get your facts straight

This country is "in the position its in" because of the generations preceeding the current generation of 'millenia kids', your generation for instance. Right now you're just spreading hate and using rhetoric for the purpose

BooBooKittyFuck said:
So your saying an unborn baby would not feel pain? Does not have a heartbeat or brain functions? They also respond when things are placed on the stomach or to hearing the mothers voice all while still in the womb. They just have not been born yet. killing a child is killing a child no matter what.

That's what I'm saying, I felt nothing in the womb and no one I've ever met or heard of claims to have felt anything in the womb. A fertilized egg does not have feelings

* I agree with the people here saying that this is not a laughing matter. All the hate and anger of anti-abortionists is justified by adolescent remarks like "abort that shit"

Heartless soul, I feel for you.

Wow you have a college degree and 15  years of experience groeing/breeding and your'e gonna work at a fast food place?

Yes liquid, you are aware or my situation right now or no?  I am not to proud to flip burgers a few weeks until I can get my DL back, buy a car, get insurance, and so on.  As I sit right now I own nothing, I am a POW of the war on drugs.  My wife left me with my car and my bank account.
I was then forced to allow her to take anything she wanted from the house by police, I have a TV and some clothes and have been sleeping on floors and couches until I am off felony probation.
Ever tried to get a job with no car or license as a felon?  As soon as I get that handled I will hand out my resume and have an invitation to manage a large commercial grow that will begin in 2014 when colorados new laws go into place.  I am not stupid enough to catch another case and get locked up for an illegal grow.  Is that a good enough explanation for you kiddo?  Could ya please quit following me around like a puppy trolling me?  You do have some quality posts, I do not like to Nig people man.  But my personal life is really not your concern, but thanks for trying to kick me when I am down, it shows character.
Bless you and best wishes :-)

We kill live, already born animals on humanitarian grounds.  I can make stronger arguments for killing recidivist burglars, the chronicly insane and welfare parasites than you can for aborting totally innocent spirits or souls or whatever crap you want to imagine.
