How do you get motivated...

I am studying a class in computing (which started in September 2011), the course has no exams it is based only on coursework (so you know, every month I have to hand in work to be marked). The course ends in 6 months time so at this stage ideally I want to be handing up the best work I could do to progress on to do a degree in computing, but lately I can't seem to get motivated to do my best. I managed to get work done easier last year but I guess some of the attitudes of others in my class are starting to have an effect on my progression.

So any suggestions on what might help?

I always just ponder the universe and how that resonates in every fiber of my body, this gets me motivated. That and nicotine:shrug:

Sadly i have to say that I get motivated with antidepressors

Otherwise im lethargic. Its hereditary

That's great though, I think that is much more important than any topic we burden ourselves with. After all we humans are the only species on this planet that can ponder our existence in this universe.

I'm trying to figure out my life without amphetemines and I feel like it's crashing and burning, but I've been thinking about trying anti-depressants again. :sun:

Those side effects, though..:thumbdown:

In order to accomplish anything without drugs I just need to get myself pumped up. Running and cleaning helps, normally I'll do some of that when I need to do schoolwork and it'll get me motivated enough to sit the fuck back down and do my homework.

I've been in classrooms where everyone is just so shitbrained that I feel like there's nothing more I can do but sit there and be like :lolwut:. It sucks. Eventually you've just got to say fuck 'em and try and ignore it so that you can get the most out of it. It helps for me if I'm the one paying for that class, it's a lot harder for me to waste it when it's my money going down the drain and not my parents.

Sometimes I try and just train myself like an animal with positive and negative reinforcement.
Like, I will wake up with an objective that must be completed that day and when I finish it  then I can reward myself with a vanilla chai latte and some marijuana. It works surprisingly well for me.

I agree with you 100% but I know that if I am not able to progress on to get a degree the qualifications from this course are not going to be much use to me :shrug:

Yeah, for sure. I know you can do it! I know another thing though, and it's that being on shroomery won't help in getting you motivated.

I would try to imagine what it would be like to hang out at the unemployment office all day because I had no skills due to a lack of drive to get done with my computer science class.  That would be all the motivation I would need - that and the look on my wife's face when I had to explain that our home finances were going to take a hit because I bombed out on a course I could have passed.  Yeah, that would do it for me.

I find what I love to do and decide I want to be the best at it and constantly improve.

You have a problem with procrastination it sounds.

This should become your new motto..

"Don't think about it, just do it."

For instance, when I know I have to work out and I really don't want to, I just do it. I put good thoughts in the back of my mind like it's worth it.

Motivation to me usually involves money or pussy, not necessarily in that order.
