Hate to break it to you but I worked as an EMT and spent the better part of a year transporting these guys.

Im not saying all mental illness but violent fucks who meds dont seem to work.
There are lots of people who are plan and simple untreatable and for the rest of societies sake need to be locked away.

Did I say gay or people who were suicidal no. All these spree shooters have many things in common and its not normal depression :picard:

So since you transported them you know about the mechanisms involved and the possibility for a normal life? Even mental health professionals can't say that for sure.

What is it that they have in common then? Should all schizophrenics be locked up? All people who show some psychopathic tendencies? All manic depressive? All bipolar people?

Well what would you suggest? Cause letting people like this roam free is working so well.:cookiemonster:

Next time you see a homeless guy trying to push you off a subway platform give him a hug and a rainbow.

I think giving these people care and making sure they cant contaminate the gene pool  any more is far more compassionate then  throwing them in jail and releasing them to homelessness and then back to jail.

Contaminate the gene pool?  Attempts to assert social control through eugenics have been a complete failure because we aren't the boss over nature.  More social problems are caused through learned arrogance and greed than inherited genetics.  There is no ideal human because we live in a constantly changing environment.

Why don't we leave evolution up to nature and focus on making people's lives better in the meantime?

Give those who can't care for themselves food, housing, medication, counseling, and jobs they can take pride in which are within their reach.  The money to do this can come directly from the budget of prisons which currenty charges somethink like $25k/inmate/year to take care of the mentally ill.

Maybe it should just start in the home, with parents that actually care about the children that they brought into this world, better parenting skills, teach love to the children, not hate and violence, perhaps all of these shoot em up video games have to do with at least part of the blame.
My point is that kids, these days, are not cared for, not taught how to love, and are force fed violence with most of the TV shows and movies that are out today.
Ban TV?????
Ban video games?
We could ban everything and just go back to hunting with clubs and growing our own food and people would still find a way to kill if that is what they choose to do.

So do what you want with guns, the violence will always remain.

So do you think his mother should have had these guns in the home? I have a feeling no matter how nutty every member of Pris' family was, he wouldn't give up his arsenal.

How about stiffer penalties for murderers, people used to get life in prison for murder, now they get a couple of years. Make them think if its worth it to actually do life for killing someone.
It may be worth it to do a couple of years to rid the planet of that vile scum in some peoples minds but if the possibility of spending the rest of your life in jail is there, then maybe it might not be so worth it  to pull that trigger.

This is not about Pris, unless he has killed someone with a gun, its not even about the gun, guns are an inanimate object that will not do anything unless made to to so by another power.
Maybe she should not have had a gun with a mentally unstable person in the home, just goes back to good parenting right?

No, this guy was just not right in the head, he killed his dad in jersey then drove to Ct and killed his mom, the children and teacher(s).
He may not have gone about things any differently, but someone a little more rational might think twice about it.

Do you know this for sure? Pris should be at NRA meetings yelling at people to lock their shit up. But, lets be honest, there is no such thing as locked up when there is a male between the age of 12-25 in the house. There is absolutely no lock that can't be defeated by someone who is motivated and has a little free time.

And using that same principal, there is no murderer that wont find alternative ways of killing if they take the guns away, if you want to kill someone, you are going to do it.

Actually his dad is alive and kicking

What I find strange is how Adam Lanzas dad and how James Holmes dad were involved in the same investment firm scam prior to the 2008 collapse; both of them were set to testify in the case.

What this says to me is that the fathers of these people were in the know of something bigger, part of the financial scam and this could have been a way to shut them up by showing them that the parties involved aren't fucking around.

The Libor Case, Adam Lanzas dad (Peter Lanza) was the tax director for General Electric and James Holmes dad worked for FICO and was going to testify in the Libor scandal.

This wasn't about Mrs. Lanza on Thursday, either, right? This is about everybody who has guns. If you have a gun, it can be used to murder. Nobody has absolute control over their weapons. When pris claims he does, those are what we hope will not become "famous last words." But they could be.

Of course peolple are still going to murder other people, but there IS NO OTHER TOOL as lethal requiring so little forethought or planning. Yes, a bomb can kill a lot of people, but you can't bomb on the spur of the moment, you need time and competence to make it. You can stab a lot of people, but as demonstrated in a mass stabbing the same day in China, a knife is nothing like a gun.

You were a teenage boy, I'm guessing. If you have a lock that requires a key or a code, and a teenage boy in the house.. It is almost guaranteed the kid knows how to get the key, or knows the code. If you don't realize this fact of adolescence, you are a fool.

I agree, federal and state budgetary cuts have put mental patients on the

while many around him did

Hell to lock up a crazy person they have to commit a crime and then anyway they just send them to jail or to a mental ward for 72 hours( most cases have to be voluntary) .

it possible to lock them up for 72hrs without having committed a crime, I
posted it earlier in this thread

Quote:
In the wake of the mass murders that took place in Newtown, Connecticut on Dec. 14, information on the shooter, and his family, is slowly being discovered by law enforcement other sources. One interesting connection to the tragedy that took place at the Sandy Hook school is that the father of Adam Lanza has a connection to the theater shootings that took place in Aurora earlier this year by James Holmes.

Both fathers of the shooters were allegedly expected to testify in the Libor scandal that rocked the banking world in June.

The father of Newtown Connecticut school shooter Adam Lanza is Peter Lanza who is a VP and Tax Director at GE Financial. The father of Aurora Colorado movie theater shooter James Holmes is Robert Holmes, the lead scientist for the credit score company FICO. Both men were to testify before the US Sentate in the ongoing LIBOR scandal. The London Interbank Offered Rate, known as Libor, is the average interest rate at which banks can borrow from each other. 16 international banks have been implicated in this ongoing scandal, accused of rigging contracts worth trillions of dollars. HSBC has already been fined $1.9 billion and three of their low level traders arrested.

Father of Connecticut shooter was to testify on Libor Scandal.
Libor scandal grows as the fathers of two mass murderers were to testify

Libor is the internal banking interest rate that major financial institutions determine each day for lending purposes between each facility. This rate is then translated to the interest rates used for mortgages, student loans, credit cards, and nearly every interest bearing loan in the world. Manipulation of the Libor rate has resulted in hundreds of billions, if not trillions of dollars in fraudulent payments made by billions of customers throughout the financial world.

For similar events on the magnitude of both Aurora and Newtown to hold a connection to one of the greatest financial scandals in the history of finance is astronomically slim in regards to coincidence. In fact, neither shooter had a history with firearm proficiency, and the outcome of each shooting showed an expertise many trained military personnel could not achieve. This leaves the question of where they got their training, or if there was another plot involved which allowed these young men to perform the actions they did with such precision.

While the coming days will bring forth more pertinent information on the motives, access, and failures of both community and family to diagnose the events leading up to Adam Lanza's killing spree, one thing is becoming disturbingly clear. The connections between the Aurora massacre, and the one that took place in Newtown on Friday, may have far more ramifications to the people involved in the Libor scandal than anyone could imagine.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a motive and a link. This coincidence is impossible to overlook. Two mass shootings connected to LIBOR

Someone hired to do such a thing could have easily gone and killed Adam and his Mother taken Adams body and her guns, shot up the school and dumped Adams body and booked.

There were quite a few inconsitiencies in the story itself from the gun found in the truck to the second shooter, to the police scanner stating two individuals coming at police running outside of the school -- away from the shooting
