That's really fucked up. Hopefuly justice will be served without... justice. Can they retry him if new evidence is provided or is that double jeopardy?

some states have 'fleeing felon' laws and can in fact shoot you for running, other states do not.

I doubt it. They spent tens of thousands on lawyer's fees over the past 2 years, and only recently won a civil lawsuit for wrongful death and were awarded 1.7 million or some such. That's probably all that will ever come out of it. The cop that shot him is still on the force as far as I know.
