clockwise morel?

I had some morel mycelium on a plate which grew outwards in a clockwise spiral. Happened on 4 plates. This photo is shit. It kept growing like this till it thickened up after making it to the edge. Anyone seen this before? or with other species? could the mycelium be responding to a magnetic field?

coriolis effect?
http://www.ems.psu.edu/~fraser/Bad/BadCoriolis.html
this is the force, caused by the rotation of the earth, that causes water to go down the sink counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere (a counter clockwise spiral from the outside lookin in, but a clockwise spiral from the inside looking out, as per your mycelium). Just a theory... as to why it happens on morel mycelium and maybe not others, that's another question altogether. by the way, what hemisphere are you in?

yep, it was brown. The first sparse mycelium looked pale but when it reached the sides of the plate it thickened up properly and looked dark brown.

The coriolus effect is not the cause of the direction the water flows in your toilet; however, it is responsible for the direction of the currents in the ocean.

From "Fungal Biology", Jennings & Lysek, p. 21:
" . . . fungal hyphae have a tendency to grow in a spiral, which is right or left handed according to species. There is a variation of the extent to which hyphal growth diverges from the straight line, depending on the extent of the restraining friction of the medium acting against the rotational force within the hypha."
There are several nice illustrations as well.
