Do emotions have neutral properties? * 1
    #17305901 -

There's an idea floating through my space, it tells me that the paradox of all our emotions have neutral and polar properties. I ponder this and I believe it to be very true.

.
Let me start with apathy,

I feel like apathy is our biggest threat as far as emotions go, as it only erases what is, from our minds. It's such a mysterious emotion because, it feels like nothing, and it only consumes thought and emotion, it's like a blackhole of the mind, the more it consumes the more it grows, once it becomes to large it becomes impossible to escape from, and you may never notice it was there.

On the otherhand you have to forget all the bullshit in life that doesn't truly matter. That's when we need apathy, it helps keep the mind in a tranquil state. In that sense it's really our best friend.
:dawerp:
.

Anger, anger is very obvious why it's bad, again it grows as you feed it, it doesn't like to go away. It's also very obvious why we need it, we couldn't survive without it.
:peyotezen:
.

Hatred or loathing, also our best friend and worst enemy. Keeps you alive. Feed it and it grows.
  :fork:
.

Love, it's vastly bipolar, and the most intensly paradoxical and creative of all emotions, to me.
  :cuteshit:
.

Lust, or the craving of all things earthly, bipolar as all hell, the cause of all suffering, the bringer of satisfaction and pleasure.
:ass2mouth:
.

Fear, far too obvious.
:pierre1:
.

Boredom, is only negative if you don't know what to do with it. I feel that it's your soul trying to tell you to do something.
:pipesmoke:
.

Loneliness again, it's your soul telling you go connect with somebody.
:cookiemonster:
.

Regret, sadness, Pity, Angst, Guilt, Grief, and Suffering. All feel negative, but they all have the great possibility to teach.
:god2:
.

These are all things I learned throughout my life. All it took was a good conversation with my soul to realize all this.

I would like many opinions about this.

I don't know about neutral. I either want or don't want to feel certain emotions, giving them a positive or negative connotation only.

I choose neutral as the word because it means in the middle, what I want to get across is that all emotions are bipolar, meaning they all have good and bad properties when you look at it, even the worst ones.

I propose that we should use all our emotions instead of feel that they are a burden.

I don't see how we can not use our emotions.

I've known quite a few people that neglect their emotion. I've caught myself doing it many times. It seems to me as if when you neglect your emotions your not using them to your benefit.

What happens if you neglect your emotions?

You simply don't feel them.

technically I think that there are neutral emotions in the sense that there are neutral body feelings and that the range of emotions are actually recollections with body feeling. pain neutral or pleasure.

many of the things listed are often called emotions, but they are also called other things. In particular many are just nasty habits or ruts like hatred (including anger and fear) greed (including gluttony and lust)  sloth (laziness and stupidness also apathy). these are also classified as sins.

they definitely have emotional character but they are not the simple pain memory or pleasure memory that really is your emotional experience.

also it is not a sin to be emotional

neutral feelings that like the memory of strong body presence with neither pain nor pleasure is also emotional but in a sense it is restorative emotion instead of depletive.

That sounds like a better alternative. How do I neglect my emotions? Even when I'm not paying attention to them they still affect me.

All emotions have evolutionary origins. The purpose of every emotion is to replicate your DNA. Emotions are chemical reactions and therefore entirely biological. These assessments are very similar to saying feet are useful for walking but if they get too big they may become cumbersome.

I can't show you how to block the signals your brain is sending you. You can either can do it or you can't. I know I can do it anytime somebody says something. I can choose to block it or receive it so I don't know what that makes me. That last sentence of yours is the exact reason you shouldn't block them because they can and will come back.

Thank you for that Redvines, you are a great mind but, you don't need me to tell you that .

I realize my observations of emotion are quite simple and igsignifigent that it's all very obvious, I'm just a little scattered right now and trying to collect my thoughts. I need lots of input.

I think it's a case of what you do with these emotions.  The negative ones, you either wallow in them and allow them to consume you, or you can choose to feel them, act on them in a positive way where possible and then release them.

Yep, and this is very dangerous imho.  People who don't allow themselves to feel can end up with any number of psychological problems and even serious physical health issues.  I think in a lot of cases apathy is the result of blocked emotions.
