Lets start a silver community * 3
    #17256403 -

Ok this is going to be a long detailed post that I have been meaning to get around to making.  Please read it all as there is a lot of good information and I feel it is important now more than ever to get the word out as I believe time is running out to get aboard the silver train.  I'm going to split this post into 3 sections.  The first part will underline the huge flaws of our current economic system and why a total global economic collapse is a mathematical certainty as the way our economics is practiced today has lead to nothing but total collapse all throughout history.  The second part will show what the true value of precious metals are, mainly silver.  And the third part will outline what we could do if we started a community with large amounts of purchasing power gained from a transfer of wealth.

1.  Economic Collapse

As many of you probably already know the global economy is running out of gas, all global currencies are on the brink of collapse and we are living on borrowed time.  A lot of people can still look the other way and be in total denial of this fact because they may still have a job and can still walk into a store and buy food with their paper currency.  Now you don't need a major in economics, rather only a little bit of common sense to figure out the global economy is totally unsustainable because every currency around the world is based on debt.  It doesn't matter if you hold Euro's, Dollars, Yen or Pounds every single note you hold is a symbol of debt as it is property of a privately owned central bank and is owed back with interest.  If no money exists to pay back this debt only one option is available, print more money and go further into debt.  This can only lead to one thing in the long run and that is a total devaluation of the currency and rampant inflation.  This is clearly evident as the US debt clock reaches a staggering 16 trillion.  Bankers have evidently held the global population hostage and have conquered the world.  When the first american revolution started the main cause was believed to be to escape from the clutches of an oppressive financial system.  As Thomas Jefferson was quoted saying "Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."  This is exactly what is happening following the creation of the Federal Reserve.

It is troubling to know that every single fiat debt based currency in all of history has collapsed.  The Romans first started devaluing their currency by reducing the silver content they were putting into a silver Denarius.  This was in order for emperors to gain more wealth and pay off their debts.  By the time of the roman collapse the denarius contained only 0.02% silver and virtually nobody accepted it as a medium of exchange or a store of value.  This also happened in china when they first started printing paper currency called "flying money" because they claimed by printing money it would allow it to just fly into your hands.  Of course inflation took hold as they were funding a war with the mongols which they eventually lost.  Other currency collapses include Weimar Germany, Zimbabwe, you get the point.

What is even more troubling about the current fraudulent global economy is the fact that every single currency around the world isn't backed by any tangible asset.  This is the first time in human history that not one currency around the world is backed by anything meaning that when it all collapses (which it will) there will be no safe currency to hold.  This means only real tangle assets will be the true safe haven with silver being one of the best purchases you can make for today's money, which I will get into more detail later in the post.  When you take into account that all currencies around the world are only paper and are debt based it's truly a race to zero.  All the wealth you see today is a total illusion.  Here is a picture of what a real dollar bill should look like: .  The collapse isn't a case of if but when.

2.  The true value of Silver

Now moving on to what true money is, gold and silver.  Both have a very long history as being used as money and a store of value.  To find out the true value of these metals we need to take a look back through history.  All throughout history 1/10th of an ounce of silver has been the average pay for a 12 hour day of work.  This represented a days worth of food, shelter, clothing and taxes for you and your family.  This was true in Roman times as the average worker would be paid with a silver Denarius a day which measured 1/10th of an ounce of silver.  Romans did not overvalue silver either but rather undervalued it as they measured it with a 1:20 ratio with gold.  The historical average for the gold to silver ratio is 1:16.  Now a little simple math will help us find the true historical value of gold and silver in Roman times.  A Roman soldier, who had to work 12 hours a day, involving intense physical labor and hand to hand combat was paid a silver Denarius a day, 20 Denarii a month and, 240 Denarii a year.  That means a Roman soldier would get 24 ounces of silver a year.  Now measure that with the 1:20 gold ratio and it comes to a whopping 1.2 ounces of gold a year.  If we take into account what an average soldier gets paid today, usually around $24,000 a year, that means Romans valued silver at around $1000 an ounce and gold at $20,000 an ounce of today's purchasing power.

Doesn't that mean we should really all be buying gold?  Not necessarily.  Times have changed and so have the uses for these metals.  Silvers uses have exploded in industry as it has over 10,000 uses.  Those who say they are not interested in precious metals because they think they are just rocks should go turn off their computer right now, and throw away anything electronic they use because they wouldn't work without silver.  Silver is the best conductor of electricity and thus is used in everything electrical.  Next to oil silver is the second most used commodity in industry and modern day lifestyle would not exist without it.  Because of this silvers value instantly raises in regards to what it was worth in roman times as there were no uses for it back then.  For the past century silver has been desecrated and used as a cheap industrial metal meanwhile gold, a less useful metal, has been horded and has been all throughout history.  This means the gold to silver ratio is rapidly decreasing and silver is actually more rare than gold.  That's right you read that correctly right now, SILVER IS RARER THAN GOLD.  Granted more silver is mined than gold (roughly 700 million ounces a year) but industry demand is over 1 billion ounces a year.  Over the last 62 years major government stockpiles of silver have been sold off to supply industry with the United States government alone dumping nearly 5 billion ounces of silver into the market since 1950.  Today, no significant government stockpiles of silver exist anywhere in the world.  The USGS actually lists the U.S. government's current stockpile of silver simply as: “None.”  Right now at $33 an ounce and at a 52:1 ratio with gold silver is the biggest opportunity in all of human history.  Right now it's rarer and more useful than gold.  Gold was worth $20,000 an ounce in Roman times so the imagination can run wild when trying to find out how much silver is now actually worth.  Couple this along with the fact that this fiat debt based economic system is coming to an end silver will shine with a blinding light.  Without a functioning economy and when all this false debt gets wiped away your one ounce of silver will hold a staggering amount of purchasing power.  I predict the biggest transfer of wealth in all of history and most likely a huge land grab will occur.  This leads me to the next and most important section of this post.

3.  What to do with a large amount of purchasing power

I have seen a lot of debates on this forum about what would hold true value under a collapse scenario.  Whilst I agree survival preparations such as food, water, ammo etc are extremely if not the most important preparations to take I still believe precious metals are very important things to take with us into the next paradigm.  This is because plain and simply put these metals are a store of value.  No matter what currency emerges precious metals will always hold their value against it.  Now I have illustrated clear facts about gold and silvers true historical value and how silver is quickly becoming more scarce.  I don't think it's a pie in the sky idea at all to value silver at close to $10,000 an ounce of today's purchasing power in a post dollar world.  So with this in mind if a collapse does occur instead of being out for yourself hording food and protecting it with guns would it not be a good idea for precious metal investors to come together and try to start some sort of community project?  If 1000 people here on the shroomery only bought 3 ounces of physical silver for only $100 today we could accumulate 3000 ounces of silver between us all.  In a post dollar world that 3000 ounces measured at $10,000 an ounce could gain us all up to $30 million worth of purchasing power measured today.  I'm sure with that amount of purchasing power we could buy our own island and create some sort of self sustainable city which would harness the full use of technology to create mass abundance sort of like the ideas illustrated in the venus project.  I think a dollar collapse would be the best thing to ever happen on this planet and instead of making plans to benefit for yourself and be out against other people we should make a plan to come together get our shit together and decide what we can do for the future.

TL;DR

Everyone buy as much silver as you possibly can so when the dollar collapses we can finance buying our own island and party happily ever after.

i just bought some pure 1 troy oz silver buffalo "coins". my plan is to put a few thousand into pure silver bullion that i actually own just in case people lose faith in paper money. i doubt the powers that be would ever let it happen, but i'd rather be safe than sorry and able to trade for some emergency supplies if i had to.

"just in case people lose faith in paper money. i doubt the powers that be would ever let it happen"

We have 4 major central banks printing money at the largest amount in world history, because there are no other economic solutions available, I hate to break the news, people have already lost faith in paper, just not many of them yet, but it's coming soon enough.

So what if I bring a check for $20,000. Wouldn't that be extremely more convenient? Convenience isn't going to win you an argument for precious metal or cach, check, or plastic. Also, this thread is about silver not gold so ???

$20,000 in gold is a roll of gold coins about the size of a flashlight D battery. People can see right on the spot that its good, whereas your cheque might not be.

Again, the thread is about silver not gold. Also, the validity of a check is assumed for this hypothetical argument. Unless you are suggesting that you have 20,000 worth of actual gold coins on hand and I would bounce a check? The point is I could have 20,000 in my bank account and writing a check or using plastic is still easier in today's world than gold. Just try to buy a car with gold coins and see how far it gets you today.

There is nothing random about it, value prices of commodities are just not "assignments" , there are supply and demand forces at work.

Silver is more scarce than copper, and thus has more value, and thousands of years of monetary history.

the point is that using silver because it is scarce is an arbitrary reason to use silver as a currency (especially when its scarcity is fabricated by silver bugs buying up silver). using silver because of history is also arbitrary (should we revert to slavery too because of a long history?). finally, silver is not any better than any other metal or element that is more scarce than silver. why not use meteor dust which is far more scarce or why not use dinosaur bones or anything else that is scarce?

Thats the thing this whole thread is about.  The cheque is NOT good. The paper money a scam, a pyramid scheme thats about to come crashing down.

People are going to hedge and diversify and this will drive silver  (and gold)  to the moon. Then you can diversify your silver into commodities you could until then not afford

Actually my family bought loads of silver coins back in the early 90's when it was around $4 an ounce. My dad is a huge silver bug. I don't see the point in it all but I'd be the last person to worry about if silver became our currency again.

It's not about using physical silver in a financial transaction, it's about using a paper currency that is backed by something real and scarce, like gold or silver.

Silver investors do not buy silver so that they will one day go to a store and purchase the item with actual physical metal. They buy silver as a store of value, which can be converted back into paper in a matter of minutes.

We are not going backwards with monetary transactions, but the massive abuse of fiat paper is not going to end well, and silver provides the protection for storing ones wealth, silver can not be printed.

no one stores wealth is paper money though. no one hordes paper money. for the most part money is now electronic. you are right to say paper money is going by the wayside but that is because things will become more electronic. currency is just a mind game. it doesn't need to be backed up by something tangible. its all just a game in our heads.

it has nothing to do with the collapse of our current monetary system. its because its a safe investment, especially when it was around $4 an ounce.

Paper and digital money are viewed as one of the same by silver/gold investors, both backed by nothing and based on faith.

Paper or digital money do have to be backed up by something real, this 40 year experiment of a global fiat monetary system is running out of steam, before it's said and done, investors will be begging for a gold backed currency.

This "game" of money is not just in the head, there are real economic fundamentals that are taking place, and expanding the monetary base at a alarming rate has serious implications, history proves it.
