i found them tight at first, but then i just stretched out the sides a bit so that they hung lower onto my face, but still create an adequate seal. hard to explain. its less tight at full extension basically.


they definitely block alot more sound then anything i've ever worn before.


i'm currently in the process of burning them in now.


so you don't think the hd280s are anything special?? hrmm... i don't know, maybe your used to nicer headphones then i am. but for me, these are definitely very impressive.


hrmm... this blue tak mod thing is the first i've heard of any can modifications. i might look into this actually. i've already got a pocket amp running on my ipod and hd280s, so the bass is improved, but it sounds like it crisps up the bass also, so i might give it a shot.

I've got the Denon AH-D2000's.
They are sick! I was able to go to a high end audio store and demo them next to the best of the best. We're talking Grado, Senn's, AKG's etc. For my money it came down to the Sennheiser HD 650's or the Denon's. After listening to them side by side on really high end equipment I picked the Denon's as they suited my listening tastes slightly more. The frequency response is very flat. I like my music to sound as it was intended. Since purchasing I have had them modded with new foam cups and lambskin covers. This got the speakers positioned a little further from my ears and broadened the soundstage considerably. If you've got some money to spend I highly recommend these. Also, there is no substitute to go to a high end audio store and putting in several hours of listening to the various headphones. The differences, even within the same price point are remarkable.

See my post above,  you can just open the cans and add some putty for more bass. It's easy. Google it :smile:


You know the easiest way to 'add more bass' without screwing with the freq response? Use an EQ! Google it!

well i actually did the blue-tak / putty mod to my headphones, i thinkt hey are more bassy now, however i may have put too much, because the drivers int he headphones kind of stick in to the bluetak now. theres a bit of an improvement, but i'm not 100% sure, because i'm still burning them in, and also i have a pocket amp connected, so theres alot of other factors involved.


i read somewhere its best to put a thinner and complete coating on the whole of the inner headphone area, so that there is clearance between the drivers and the blue-tak.


thanks for letting me know about that thought, i would have never found out about that otherwise!
