looking for advice on a new pair of headphones

hey shroomers hows it going.

im looking to purchase a new pair of headphones, not in-ear headphones but the big type that sit over ur ears and generally have alot better sound quality (bass etc).

im looking for a reasonably priced model, not the top of the line $500 dj quality or high end stuff. im happy with decent sound quality and as i said a reasonable price.

im fairly clueless when it comes to headphones so i was wondering if anyone could please point me in the direction of some good prospective purchases??

I doooo enjoy my sennheiser hd 555's....
under 100$ and sound quite quite excellent.
great bass.

Really any seinheisers you can find will be good man :smile2:
I have a pair of Coby's that only ran be around 20$ and we're decent,
but still two different leagues.

sounds good. i actually checked a local shop around my area and found that they have a nice looking pair of Sennheiser's in stock for only like $60. might buy them actually. nice. thanks dude.

I use these



they not only have good bass they have POWERFULL bass. and clean too so it doesn't muffle out the rest of the music but still remains POWERFULL. and amazing for a great price too. definitely the best headphones for the price i've ever used

Nice dude. I have a pair of AKG K81DJ's. Actually selling them because I barely use them, but I'm in full agreement, they're the best cans for the buck really. OP if you want them PM me.

I have Sennheiser HD 280 Pro...they were $90 and they sound excellent, cover out exterior noise, good bass, etc.  The best part is they have lasted over 2 years.  Most headphones I destroy in about 3 months. 

You might want to look through headphones on one of the commercial online music stores.

thanks envix they seem like another decent option.

yeah starfire thanks for your suggestion, i will also look into them. im not too worried about noise canceling and things. i have been looking at local music stores n stuff around here on the net.

Noise cancelling headphones suck, especially if you do mixing or recording at high levels.  The cheap compression-expansion (I think that is what they use) really can fuck up the dynamic range of music.  Better to use an external noise gate or a DSP card/pro music card with a noise gate.

im mainly jsut getting them to listen to an ipod or maybe connect into the computer from time to time, not for actual dj'ing or mixing or anything like that.
