This is true, especially sony MDR-V series. I purchased a pair for 30 bucks instead of the full price of $90 on ebay. They were shit lasted about 3 months.

I'll probably get the 595's, although I had sennheisers a couple of years ago and they broke after 2 weeks, maybe I just got a shitty pair.

how about these?  They have a retractable mic, it's the best gaming headset i've ever had, but it's also good for ipods cause it has a way to shorten the cord also.
