Yea, why only 80 min? I'm confused about that.... If there is a timer just reset it....

Men İts a small pc ... 8 litters . when i put in 3 jars remains 5 litters and 3 liters of water max i can fill in that case ... Because it cant take more ...
Funny thing this is the biggest and highest psi capable pc that i could find in this city ...

There are a bunch of helpful posts, but allow me to add my own:

Soak grains (Rye) for 12 hours or so.  Start with cool water, and leave it covered in a cool place.  I add a tablespoon of gypsum for each 7 quarts of grain.

After your soak, RINSE THE GRAINS three times in cold tap water.  Any endospores will be dramatically reduced in number, almost to zero.  Remember:  DILUTION IS THE SOLUTION TO POLLUTION.

Now simmer (just at or below a very low boil) for 30 - 45 minutes.  Toss in colander per RR video until exterior moisture content is exactly right, then load up your jars and PC at 15 p.s.i. for 120 minutes.

Works every time.

Thanks man ... İ need the 15 psi pressure cooker that is so obvious ...
And i just did another test with my 12 psi bitch ... İ put 2 jars in instead of 3 to see if i can cook at least 120 minutes ... Result : even with 2 jars it cooks max 105 minutes , than water finishes.... Pc is important... Could you tell me how much litters your pc can handle guys?

you're doin it wrong

when your PC starts to release steam, you need to turn down the heat, so it only releases steam once every couple of minutes.

if it is constantly pushing out steam, then you will run out of water.

you should read the instructions that came with your PC

Dude we soak to germinate the endospores... And simmer to hydrate the grain.. And i dint think endo spores can produce more endospores untill they get in some productive stage... Like shroom circle..

Koolaid had it right the first time. You soak to hydrate. You don't want endospores or even regular mold spores to germinate because that's when they start producing bacteria that just adds more contaminants to the mix. That's what that weird, fruity, fermented smell is when you leave grains sitting in stagnant water for several hours- bacteria. It's best IMO to hydrate the grains quickly by simmering or steeping them in water rather than letting them soak in a bacteria bath for hours.

The reason we use a PC in the first place is to kill endospores because normal boiling temps aren't hot enough to do the job. I've never understood the logic of allowing those spores to germinate, produce more bacteria, which could in turn produce even more endospores. I've used only WBS now for about 10 years and I never soak it. I steep it in extremely hot water for > 1hr, rinse it, drain it, jar or bag it up and PC it for 90min to 3+ hours depending on the volume of substrate. The initial heat of the hot water steep kills off a lot of mold spores right off the bat and the PC takes care of the rest.

Detergent does kill bacteria, mold and spores. Unfortunately, it also kills mushroom spores. Experience and experimentation are the best teachers though, so give your method a try and let us know how it works out for you.

Ok thanks for deep info but i dont think you are right about this....
Let me explain to you the idea of soaking....
We soak because in grain absulately %100 exist endospores.. What is a endospore ? -its a bacteria in ironman suit ...bacteria become suited because when enviromental conditions are not good to keep living around they turn their selves to little muthafukin endospores...

Endospores are strong, stabilized, -heat, radiation and pressure survivors...

So the idea - we germinate the endospores and they get in vegetative stage , divide to more bacteria ...which you can easly kill with normal sterilizing procedure( not like endospores) ... So it really doesnt matter if they are producing ( not produce actually it called division) more bacterias But..
---the bacterias will be in vegetative stage Not in endospore form...!!!!!

you germinated the endospores and when you pc them all they are gona die easyly ,thats the whole soaking point ... Forgive my inglish if you see mistake.

And you simmer to hydrate ... Not soak...

Btw k00l About pc .. I did it couple times .. But i thought if the fire is low than inside temp will be lower relatively .. You know compaire to high level fire...
I dont know but thanks for reminding that man, iam back on it...

I must admit i didnt read the entire thread but I just wanted to chime in and say that the soap soak isnt to kill anything... its to break the surface tension on the straw so the water can seep in.... otherwise it takes like 24 hours to soak straw... so soap would be 100000% useless with grains
also the whole endospore thing is like... a 3 year old argument..... the soaking of grains is to loosen them up so they dont explode in the PC or while simmering. Alot of people only soak for 4 hours if at all. When I tried a no soak I popped all my grains but some people have success.  Noone worries about endospores anymore

I dont know if anyone had pointed out these things yet but they needed to be so there :havesomescience:

You know what!.. keep thinking one way ... And just because you have killed the endospores with your pressure cooker .. That doesnt change the truth...

Endospores are stronger than veg.bacteria .. Germinating them lets us burn them all together...
Or you can just Pc them just like you did...as i said pc is the most important thing in this work .. See me i have 12 psi and having problems...

Simmer -moisture...

About soak ... Why the hell are you arguing on huh ... Is it so hard to understand..
Soak - germinates endospores First and first
ofcourse -add water in grains
-and of course thanks to added water and softer grains.. They have Easy time in simmering..
If you thought just because i said shortly "soak to germinate endospores" that doesnt means thats the only thing happens and only reason ...logic tc

Now keeep showing your pictures .. Because they are beautiful.

Personally I think the endospore thing is a myth. I mean I'm not saying they don't exist. I just don't think its even an issue.
FooMan is right. The only reason I soak is because thats just the method I'v perfected and I keep fucking it up when I try the other ways.

Yes its not a issue if you have optimal pc in your kitchen ..But up there i typed what soaking does ... And i am not on who is right or wrong.
i understand why you dont care ... But its not same for me .. I have a pc capable of 12 psi ... so endospores are so real for me.  Little google can show you its not a myth in no meaning...

And why did you fuck up ....? Btw

I'm just going to bust in on this little convo and let y'all know that I haven't soaked any grain since 2009. I rinse the grain in a colander, throw them in a pot to simmer until fully hydrated, then steam toss in the colander, then right into the pc. This has not given me problems for as long as I've been doing it.
Give it a try. Whether using rye, wbs or popcorn- skip the soak. You'll come to find it isn't necessary.

So who doesnt have talant they fuck up their kernels by simmering and than gets lucky when they try soak first...  So they think soaking is for kernels and helps simmer.

Others doesnt have a good pc .. And they get trick without soak .. So they see soaking a must for germinating endospores ....

And there are others who has good pc ... They rinse their grain and pc without soak ... And they see soaking is unnecessary...

As i said ,,. Pc brings freedom to skip soak.
