Very curious as to your opinion.

Some straw teks say to soak the straw for 24 hours. Does this help/hurt any?

Are you saying that a mycelium syringe can be used to inoculate straw? So perhaps jars of straw, done otherwise the PF style, would work as long as a home made mycelium syringe is used to inoculate it.

Am I reading that right?
