    #16896172 -

I have been wanting to do a minamilst grow for a while now, does anyone have any suggestions on minimalist substrates/fruiting containers/sanitaion teqnuices or any other info you can throw my way would be great!:crazy2:

.. hmm.

Paneaolus Cyanescens can be grown without a pressure cooker. In some dung. Outdoor cubensis grows are very minimalist too. I have some going inside and out right now, it's simple.

The PF-Tek is about as minimalist as it gets.

What's your definition of minimalist?

EDIT: :whathesaid: Outdoor grows would certainly use/cost less, but not everyone has the right conditions outside. :mad2:

No vermiculite/fancy agar or a preassure cooker. Basically trying to recreate the naturall process of the wild.  :takingnotes:

Fractional sterilization with grains then

Anyhow, just a joke as it seems you do not want to sterilize.

You are not mother nature so anything you do without some sort of sterilizing would be basically a shot in the dark IMO.

Fractional sterilization? how do you do that? If it helps ill be using Cambodians due to their fast colonization.

Well, with the PF-Tek, you don't need agar or a pressure cooker, but you do need verm. (Which could possibly be replaced with sawdust, as RR describes in his videos.) But the sawdust was used for Shiitake mushrooms, so idk how it would work if you were planning on Cubes.

I think I know where you're getting at though. I've fantasized about starting with only spores/LC, jars, and a large pot, and going out in the woods/fields and gathering substrate materials and sterilizing in a pot over an open flame of sticks/wood,kind of like preparation for when/if the electrical grid goes down, but I'm also only half-sane. :crazy2:

Cubes a cube.  If you want to have a fast colonizer then isolate.

Boil one night, cool off.  Boil another night, cool off.  Boil a third night.  Basically you soak/simmer/what not like normal.  Try to germinate the endospores, and kill during boiling.  The next day you allow the others to germinate, then boil again to kill.  After the third day our hopes are all endospores of any kind would of germinated and you can kill with the final boil.

60-90 minutes.

And yes.  Fractional sterilization is basically hit or miss.  Which is why it is not normally even considered an option for grains.  A PC would be your BEST investment in this hobby.  I'd highly suggest it(And one that will be big enough to hold 9+ quart jars).

Put a spore print in the drinking water of some cows. That's about as natural as you can get.
