Fruits growing directly under cakes?

Hello everyone, I'm quite impressed with my first grow as I've actually seen fruitbodies! I'd like to know if I've been doing something a bit wrong so I can bypass such an error during my next grow. Pics:

The mushroom on the bottom right-hand corner is probably the best example of what I'm talking about. Most of the fruits I've seen grow so far have originated directly in the center of the cake, underneath it. I harvested Cake 5 today, and found that the fruits on that also were growing underneath, along with a bunch of aborts:

I'm figuring this may have something to do with my lighting arrangement? Plenty of light is getting under the cakes as well as around and on top of them. The light source itself is actually positioned a bit lower then the cakes....I figured I would use tin-foil to reflect it off of the ceiling. I would like to correct this for my next grow.....unless this is a natural occurrence.
Oh yea, Cake 5 before harvest :

I had pins growing on the bottom of one of my cakes, I simply turned the cake upside down. Worked for me.
edit- I had pins not cakes.

i had the same 'problem' but it's ok. you can flip them upside down or just leave them alone. i think the result will be the same:-) in the first photo i can see some greenish(blueish maybe) dots on the top of the cake. Did this happen after misting your terrariums wall maybe? i mean some water drops fell on your cake? cuz i misted my terr's walls, water drops fell on the cakes, i left and when i came back home i saw all the tops of my cakes having these greenish dots. 2-3 pins (which were on the top of the cake) have them on their stems.

Actually, earlier on in the fruiting process some water droplets had fallen onto a few of my cakes. Now that I look back on it, the blueing may have just been from handling.

I believe the reason for shrooms growing on the bottom of your cake is because they love to grow on water. vermiculite contains water. I always notice them doing this. I had 3 particular pf cakes that were drying out from some extraneous circumstances i won't divulge here, but after 2 1/2 weeks of no pins in the fruiting chamber, I flipped them, and one had a bunch of tiny pins on the bottom. I flipped all 3 of them, and soaked the vermiculite layer (that used to keep germies out of the colonizing brf) with a misting device. After that the shrooms exploded out of the cake, got 3.2 dry grams on that flush. strain was mazatapec, fyi

Did you flip them so the verm barrier was on top, or on the bottom?

Absolutely right Imo. They love the moisture content of the vermic. which is normally placed downside. I would not turn the cakes around - just leave them and enjoy.

The verm barrier was on top, so that I could spray it, and the pool of water could soak in with the aid of gravity. the cake just sucked it down, seemed to do the job of dunking, but kinda easier.

From my experience with cakes i noticed that the mushrooms will not grow off the cake if the humidity is too low. Maybe a factor...
Always do the double ended casing tek with cakes, as mentioned they love water.
